Hi guys i know its a 5th gen 4afe but i figure the tech is the same, im swapping in a 94 corolla 4afe into my 90 st 4afe(block head and all) ive figured out that everything will work save for the throttle body and the egr valve.

the throttle body i can use from the 90st(plus it will have the right tps) i will have to make an adapter plate out of aluminum for the tb(easy for me)

the corolla 4afe doesnot have a egr valve and no provision for it so my question is" does the egr valve throw a code when it is disconected or does it just not register?, if it does throw a code how do i get rid of the code?"

the two hoses to the tb should i disconnect them and just loop the coolant flow?

okay,,,..with the egr disconnected..it will throw a code...but you can wire a resistor between the plug and that`ll solve that...and im assuming the hoses to the tb are for the idle air control valve and you`ll need those working properly.

any idea what the reistor is?

i remember a post back when that said if you disconnect the hoses and run them in a loop it will cool down your intake. however i could see it needing it for the iac.

it apears i can use the old tb coolant lines on the new water outlet housing(thats why i was wondering about just looping them but they will work)

found out if its a non cali car it should not throw a code with egr disconnected(will find out when i plug it in)

here are some pix for you guys

heres the old block, notice anything wrong with that piston?

heres a picture of the throttle cable bracket i had to fab up, i will refine it in time.

a close up of the aluminum adapter between the new intake and old tb. notice the throttle pulley, i used the old one and just turned it up side down, if you look you can see where the tab is pushing on the metal bracket instead of sitting in it, this will stay like that becuase the cable is pulling it up.

just another close up of the tb adapter plate, its only used because the old tb has ports that go up higher than the new intake housing.

and finally a picture of the two different tb's the one on the left is the old style(the one im using.)
