I got everything apart on my 86 GTS to replace the passenger (right) side cv axle.
Grabbed the new one and noticed it has what appears to be the ABS ring, my 86 GTS doesn't have ABS!
    ARRRGHH!!!

NAPA must have screwed up or can I use ABS cv axle on my non-ABS Celica?!

    Help/advice please!

    Re: Help!

If it's like any other vehicle I've ever sold them for, yes, you can. Just check hub clearance to make sure the tone ring doesn't interfere...

OK, thanks, I was freakin' out, LOL
I'll give it a try and see if it fits. Here's the part number #0652410 and details:

Yeah, you should be OK...Definitely would be a problem if it was the other way around for obvious reasons... I sell them at work that way all the time...ABS for Non-ABS...

Well, the new cv axle fits, except that the center bearing is slightly out of place by less than 2 mm compared to OEM.

So that 2 mm means the "C" shaped snap ring won't fit into the retaining groove properly. Going to the parts store to see if another clip will be slightly thinner and will fit. Argghh, more frustration :aargh

Gonna bring the cv axle back to NAPA and exchange it for a rebuilt OEM one.

    On a side note,
Car parts seems to cost twice as much in Canada.
My cv axle is CAD $150, while in the US it's only $80.
Even the big snap ring (dealer only, part# 90521 75002) costs CAD $45, but in the USA, only USD $22 :sad

if the exchange rate was that good id move to canada tomorrow.

-maybe its cause we have toyota factorys? import taxes? shipping? that does suck.

I put in the reman'd OEM cv axle and it fit no problem.
It even came with a new snap ring, bonus!
    All is well again :mrgreen
