    Hey guys,
I need some help removing my heater system in my car. Two weaks ago it rained real hard out and when I opened my passenger door I noticed water behind the seat.

I've check around and figured out that the water was running down from the front of the car. I took the dash out yesterday and today I was planing on removing the heater system to get a good look at things. I started this morning and after about one hour I havden't got anywhere either then removing a few bolts and screws. I ended up breaking a piece of plastic off that goes right under the heater core. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a walk through on how to remove it. I was really getting frustrated and had to stop working or I'd have broke more things.

I'm only trying to remove the pieces that are infront of the passenger seat.. The ones that are in the picture below.
Anyway let me know.. I want to get things back together asap.

Thats a shitload of water dude. I don't know where that much water could get in on the passenger side firewall. Here's all the holes on the firewall on that side of the car.

1- windshield wiper motor (does not go into interior cabin)
    2- engine wireing harness
    3- air conditioning hoses

    1- don't remember

I would take off the black molding along the bottom of the windshield and check for rust. Also in the center of the pic is a hole where the heater hoses go into the cabin.

Is th passenger seat wet? Perhaps your driving was a little eratic and you scared the piss out of your passenger

If you have air conditioning you'll have to discharge the freon before you can remove the interior parts. If you think you have all the bolts out then its probably the condensor going through hole 3 above that is still holding the unit in place.

To remove the cooling unit it says there are 3 nuts and 4 bolts.

I took the cowl off the other day and everything looks good under there.. The seals is ok.. I also took the fender off thinking there was a rust hole or something on that side. When I put water on the car, water starts to drop off the heater unit so I need to remove it to make sure there's no problem.. but there has to be one.. Ill take photos when I find it.

I saw this on the internet and thought I could have a similar problem.

Those pics are of a right hand drive...

The ac lines are free of freon because I had to evac the system when I put the new engine in. I just undid a fitting and the vapor was shooting at my nabour who was taking a look at things. (haha) I know it's not good..
Anyway, how do I remove the condensor and is there a short but to removing it.. ei cutitng it or something? I'm going to the wrecker tomorrow around noon and id like to know how to remove these pieces so I can replace the one I broke today.

Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully I will have this problem solved soon. I don't like working on the car in such cold weather. I wish I found out about this problem when it was the summer time :p

Okay none of my spare units has AC so I can't show you the 2 connections you have to remove but I have put together the 3 caseings I have. Green X's show where a bolt/screw/nut goes.

Red circles in this picture show an electrical connector that has to be undone.

The red line in this case shows that the piece on the right fits in behind the piece on the left so you can't just pull the piece on the right straight out. But this is the first piece I would try to remove.

There is a little hook mechanism on the top of these 2 pieces. Once all the bolts are removed that connect the 2 pieces it is easiest to slide the right hand piece to the right until the 2 pieces seperate.

Circled in red is another shot of the hook mechanism.
To remove the blower motor try to move the front of it to the left and towards the back of the car and try to move the back of the blower (closest to the firewall) to the right until the back lip clears the cooler unit.

Awesome, thanks for the photos. One more quick quetions. On yours you removed the heater core with the heater unit. Say, if I want to remove just the lower part of the case (because it's in two peices) all I need to remove is the metal clips that hold it on then?
I edited you photo a bit.. kinda hard to see, but I didn't remove the metal clips on the back side of the box, that may be whats holding it on.

Sorry for the shitty edit, I don't mave much time to fool around with paint shop pro :D

sorry about that last post.. I'm getting things confused. I took another look at my system and it's a bit different then yours. Also, I was getting the heater core and the condensor mixed up.. for some reason I thought the condensor was the heater core. Anyway, i'm going to the wrecker in 30 minutes, I'm going to take everything appart properly.. I didn't want to undo the fittings to the condensor just yet incase I can take it apart differently. Ill fill you in when I get back. Thanks for all the diagrams :)

Well, I went to the junk yard and started to work around 3:45. I got the whole dash aprat and managed to get the peice I broke without breaking it this time. I undid the fittings for the ac in the engine bay and removed all the bolts and it came out pretty easy as a unit. The reason why I counld't remove mine as because there are two screws that are on the backside of the unit facing the firewall that are virtually imposible to remove wihout taking it out as a unit. Here's some photos of my new plastic piece.

Tomorrow I'm going to continue to remove the heater system and get to the bottomg of this problem..
    Thanks for the help :)
