Why? You want to do endo's when you hit the brakes?

Seriously, the weight is all up front from the bumper hooks back, the firewall blanket
weighs 30kg alone, add aircon, electric motors, sunroof, steel bonnet, battery, cast iron
    manifold & brackets

The trick to improve handling is to lighten the front and try to get a 50/50 weight distribution.
    At the moment it's 70/30

Like I said - there isn't much weight in the rear already
It's not wise to lighten the back further without handling problems

You can strip the tar and have a noisy car, perspex the windows,
chuck carpets, change the seats etc but it won't make much difference.
Deleting the rear seat is piontless, it only weighs a few kg wheras a sunroof
weighs 20kg. I haven't felt the rear window yet, but it must be 30kg+

Check my Car Interior thread for some ideas on the race car pics

i do not recommend stripping the rear unless you plan on drag racing. the weight distribution in the car makes the rear fishtail on mine. not good!

    thanks
im assuming to lighten up the front its just ripping out all ac/cruise/power steering components? what else can i remove? and also moving battery to the back?

I removed my rear seats, carpet, seat belts and the other brackets. So far my car has driven nicely. I driven a 900+ km round trip to Vancouver (and drove around in Vancouver) and the car still drove perfectly fine. Haven't removed the sound deadening stuff yet though.

I probably am going to put the seats and carpet back in soon because it was nice to be able to put stuff in the back without worry about it hitting the wires for the fuel pump.

Too be honest even with the seats etc. removed I haven' noticed much difference. Car doesn't accelerate faster or get better gas mileage that I've noticed.

Only upside to it was not being able to drive extra friends around in the back seats...damn moochers. Given the fact that I can only have one passenger legally until I get my Class 5 license.

We kept a running tally on the sound deadening material out of my alltrac. I think we got to 100lbs before we gave up on the whole project.

Remove the AC and all components, move the battery to behind the passenger seat to offset the weight of the driver/move weight to the center of the car. Not a whole heck of alot more tp really remove.
