to cut a long story short, i was driving along the highway and a ticking noise that i thought was a rattle somewhere (something insignificant) got a whole lot louder.... and i meant a LOT louder..... without investigating, i assume i have thrown one of the big end bearings... but we'll soon find out... to make things worse, i was driving home from newcastle, and still had about 3 hours to go, so i was stranded and brogan kindly organised a car trailer for me, and dad came and picked me up..... a trip that was meant to be over in 3.5 hrs took 13..... im tired and now i have no car hahaha lifes great....
im sure things will work out ok, but times an issue cause i start uni in under a week, and i really need a car for it !
shit do u think it could have had something to do with the dyno tune? Grab a jdm 1st gen 3sge for a few hundred and just slap it in, Id hate to see a nice car die
well, i need to see what's wrong with it first.... before i just to conclusions... but its pretty messed up haha if its as bad as i think it is, prob have a complete rebuild and start from 0km's... i dont know what it was to do with, it only started making a tapping noise after the tune, but i wouldnt have a clue.... the timing was only advanced 1 degree ?! hopefully gonna have a closer look at her today i'd love a rebuilt engine lol

That sucks man. I still think you should grab that whitelightning from that McCloud guy. You could probably get the whole car for what you'd pay for just a motor. -K
well, its spun the big end bearings and its fucked, so it gonna be rebuilt over the next little while... prob pour 2+ grand into the rebuild, hoping that it will last a little longer this time hopefully they will overbore it as much as legally possible, pistons, hone, polish... i dont know, just a guess, its gonna be rebuilt up a little bit stronger than the normal gen1 3s hopefully get a lot more power out of it and also up the redline a fair bit its getting pulled apart when they get time to see the extent of the damage so far.... then they will go from there so i odnt know exactly what will be done to the engine just yet.... ill keep everyone posted tho !
i'd rather stick with my car as its got all the suspension done plus rims and good tyres and all the bushes are re done and all that stuff.... its all working well, except my engines tapping lol have you got a link to the white lightning??

lol how did I know metphar was going to straight away blame the tune. The engine hasn't been pulled down yet, but looks like its ran low on oil. The plugs have some oil burned onto them, and the dipstick was below the low mark.
yeah... that would do it lol i did i service like 2 weeks ago and checked the oil before i left on the trip like 3 days before it shat itself... musta been something seriously wrong to burn all its oil in a few hundred k's anyway, good things will come from this hahaha
Damn, i'm surprised my auto ST162 is still going, its leaking pretty badly, and i have hardly toped it up since i got it, lol. This is a good reminder as i was going to do it the other day but forgot.
haha good-o then! its hopefully gonna be started on on monday or maybe earlier, but its pretty busy at the workshop. just a rebuilt, been thinking about it and its not worth building it up just yet. ill wait till i have more money then see what i can do !
