So I am finaly putting my engine backtogeather on the 26th (I had a blowne head gasket), and i was wondering if I needed any kind of Sealants for the gaskets on teh upper 1/2 of the engine. If so can you recomend a good one(s) Thanks
sealent for what? the only sealent you should need is on the sharp corners of the valve cover. everything else goes on dry.
ya, but i used it on a thermo stat connection were it wouldnt seal proper so i put a thin type of silicon sealant on it and it hasnt leaked since!!!
Gasket Sealents - Looking for Copaslip Ever heard of Copaslip? Can't find it here but it's a head gasket spray which enhances sealing and makes the gasket re-useable (it contains copper & lead) We used it on race engines for years and the head gaskets never stuck, we could use the same gasket 2-3 times, I used to spray exh bolts and nuts as well and it did make life a lot easier I want to try it on my exhaust gaskets as well, thats it in the spray can on their site I see there's also an assembly lube we never had http://www.molyslip.co.uk/anti_sieze_compounds/ http://www.molyslip.com/Products/Copaslip.html In Africa Spanjaard owns the Molyslip name, this is the brand I know but the patent belongs to Molyslip UK http://www.spanjaard.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=4&Itemid=4 Guess I'll have to start being nice to the Guru if I want some
Cool thanks for the advice guys! I feel like a kid at waiting for santa, All my part orders are starting to come in, and anticipation of finaly being able to drive my st165 is killing me.
id like too find out more about that gasket spray??? how does it work and will the gasket not be screwed when you take it out??
Usually when you take the gasket out the second time it starts to stick to the head/block and break up. We didn't have metal gaskets in those days
