On my 88' 3s-fe, the fuse for tail lights and dashboard continues to blow/burn.

Before it would happen intermittently, but now when I replace the 15 amp fuse (located in the upper right corner of the driver's left sidekick panel), it blows immediately as soon as I turn on the lights.

Today I tried replacing the "Taillight control relay" with one from another used for the AC, but the fuse still blows.

    Ideas appreciated, thanks.

Edit/Update: I just saw a thread on this site with a problem same as mine(link below). Interesting how it was solved. In brief, a 50 amp fuse place in this slot for 5 seconds or long enough to see a smoke coming from behind the panel. This shorted wires were fixed and problem resolved.

I'll first try looking behind the panel before I do the 50 amp fuse.

So I found the short, it was one of the wires for the heater/ac unit. It was a wiring job that I did. Oops, ugh.

By the way, it was located when my friend was doing some testing, and smoke came up from the dashboard. As I can understand, the smoke-and-locate method is discouraged, but it did help us locate it quickly. Above all, we were lucky without any further damage.

the "short test" works well on old cars.
