What do you folks think of this?

This is based off of the Mclaren F1, though our cars aren't mid-engine. I'm looking at possible ways for a roof scoop to be functional as well as look nice as hell. I also might grab another Celica in the future and build it to a mid-engine. So this could be useful.

Below is the alternate positioning of the Intake tube. Keep in mind this is under the interior trim. I post these ideas because these are some of the things I want to do with the Celica. I want that supercar feel, but also take a glance at it and you still see it as a Celica. I'll post my ideas about my designs in another thread.

    1) Much like hard work, my ram air is way simpler to install and not visible. Would be easier to make a decent front spoiler with scoops

2)I'ts not a new idea, mostly done away with due to the extra drag placed on the car.

3)Race cars nowdays just have NACA ducts in the windows for cooling internal stuff, even the MR2's
don't have roof scoops but rather use snorkels

4)Needs perfect sealing or you won't get airflow to the front

5)Just looks weird imo - bit like a hood scoop on a 911 Cerrera

    Thanks for the input.
Haven't seen any Celicas with a scoop so thought I might create one in the future. I'm actually going for a more subtle roof scoop. Not something bulky and huge, goal is to compliment the body while having performance. A design challenge for sure.

    Something subtle like this.

Just a thought. Or maybe it might be better for a mid-engine :ack2

what needs to be looked at BEFORE atttempting this is the airflow over the vehicle.
the size of that scoop and the placement that you have drawn for your celica will NOT do anything but constantly crack and leak (don't ask how i know this :roll )

:lol2 Well, I agree whole heartedly with all the air flow. A real design challenge. I've thought about that before. Everything except the leaking part.

Needs to be moved to aftermarket mods?

It ill crack and leak because as you take a corner the cars chassis twists and turns as you turn.

Your definitely not going to over come the pressure in the engine bay, that means no flow into it.
    just use a regular scoop

Probably would be a what's the word that you use stig? "pita" I don't exactly know what it means, but I think it's appropriate to say that it would be a pita to clean out. Maybe if not made right or by chance might have a few twigs stuck and leaves in those tubes.

pita = pain in the ....

I'd like to see someone make a decent front spoiler, apart from the Aeroform there's
    nothing worth spending on

just remove the gasket at the back of the hood. much lower engine bay temps. done.
