Ok so I have come to love the euro/jdm folding mirrors. I think they are hot-shit! My questions are these though: 1) if i buy the mirrors will i also need to buy the switch if they are not the electronic folding ones? i have the electric mirrors with heating. 2) will the wiring from my stock mirrors be the same to the folding ones without the electronic fold? 3) will the heating and mirror positioning still work from my car if i transfer over just the mirrors from the donor? i like the electronic folding mirrors but if i have to rewire anything just so they fold electronically, then i will rethink that idea. however if i do not need to and just swap the switch and mirrors then oh boy i will go for the gusto. thanks for all the help guys!
Not sure on the wiring part, but you have to watch out as they were designed to work on RHD cars, so the view out of them is going to be horrible.
You're mirror controls are in the middle so this will be easy for you get in your passenger seat and see if you can adjust your mirrors to suit you in that seating position if you can get it to suit your visual needs you shouldn't have a problem getting the folding mirrors... I'm getting some of the TTE Folding mirrors for my 5th gen!
If you find a pair send them to me and I'll test them for you You can allways take the mirror glass out of your north american mirrors and put them in the folding ones.
hahaha ii could do that. so the setup is still the same then with the ellectronics? or has no one tried this yet?
Actually, I seen a set in china town down in San Fransisco. They were even folding as I was walking by. I really liked it! Of course, it was a RHD car... Had the American glass in it though... Really strange, but was all too cool! I want to see one of our LHD cars with this... I would totally do it, if I could get the mirrors for less than 3 Benjamins!
hahaha, not looking for power ones, just the regular. but hey if they are cheap then i am for sure gunna get them. see if maybe a buddy in europe can pull them for me and send em over.
tell ya what. i will go scope out the local yards and check for a center console cruise control setup. what are you looking for? or better yet, if i do find one, what should i get out of the donor for you? maybe we can work something out. what color are the mirrors? guess it wouldnt really matter anyways since i think "brandy" is going to get colored in a year or so anyways.
they are standard black, non painted yet better for you, no old paint to be removed ! I don't have cruisecontrol yet...so I would need the full setup. Maybe I have some other things you might be interested in, like the stock EU H4 lamps? You were in that topic active as well I believe. Traded with 86celicast short time ago, went perfectly !
hehehe. i see. i will let you know what i find. if i cant come across that, how much would you like to sell the mirrors for?
I like the trading . No money involved, just some guys helping each other out. Search first, than we'll see ok?
that we did, went as smooth as glass.... I want those headlamps, by chance are the euro, jdm coupe tailights diff` then there u.s. cousins?
AFAIK JDM are the only power folding. All Aussie folding mirrors aren't heated, and I suspect Euro's are the same. lone wolf, for the cruise control setup you will need the actuator, throttle cables, switch off clutch pedal, all wiring, the switches, and the cruise control computer and I think possibly the adapter off the speedo cable aswell (goes inbetween tranny speedo sender and the cable).
than that's what I need Euro mirrors were delivered electric and heated on the GT-S but not on the smaller engined cars, those were only electric. The ones I have are electric only. I'll go make some pictures in a few
uhh, have some empty housings and found a pair which are electric and heated, Joe asked me about headlights AND mirrors trading for cruisecontrol. I'll just wait who finds the cruisecontrol setup then to trade. Roy
lone wolf ----> I posted the section from the Celica Electrical Wiring Diagram Manual Cruise Control Electrical Wiring Diagrams in the technical section. So you can check out all the fun you'll have installing it. XR Pilot has a pretty good decription of all the parts you'll need.
hahaha crap. i thought there was more to it than the cable and switch. damn i dunno if i will be able to get all of those items for ya. let alone find a donar that might have them. hehehe but we will see. i might try and go this weekend. i will keep ya posted
