hey i've got a mystery cracked side mirror, and a spare to replace it with.
i played around with the spare housing, but its black and mine are painted white so i just want to change out the mirror panel. i found the easiest way to get the old one off is to pry it with a screwdriver, worked fine.

now trying to get the new one on.
there are 3 screws holding the front cover onto the mirror assembly. these need to be out and the cover moved, for the new mirror's central mount to be pinned on the front side of the assembly.

i've tried doing it with the cover in place, by pulling the mount pin and the white half-sphere out of the new mirror but i can't get the white ball back into the mirror like this, need to turn it a lot and don't have that movement.

also tried putting the mirror in attached to the mount, and putting the screws in while moving the mirror out the way but cant get enough room to do it.

to top it off, having a hard time getting the blue movement arms into the new mirror sockets, might just need needlenose pliers tho.

advice please, am i on the right track?

    cheers.

    Re: side power mirror replacement

I changed the mirrors out of their shells without any problems, you should be able to pop them in and out. I'll double-check when I get home, it's been a while since I did that.

In the meantime, I recall that Dave aka ST165-2765, posted some pics of a disassembled side mirror. Try doing a search to see if you can find them.

solved - side power mirror replacement

hey thanks for the quick reply, got me out there to check it and i noticed the 1 screw underneath the mirror.
to replace the glass, i put the white ball back in the panel, took the underneath screw out, pinned the mirror and replaced it all, 2 mins work after an hour of messin around last night.

    cheers
