YES THATS RIGHT. I finally got the car I want. The car has 223k and has been restored by the previous owner, 1 year old paint, interior looks good, motor pulls hard, trans is good! Sold both GT cars to him + $1000 for this car. He's got a 3s-ge in his garage with .020 oversize that he's gonna put into my 1st celica and he's gonna play around with it for autocross. He gave me two sets of the 10spoke wheels, one set of the honeycomb wheels, all of which we know comes stock with our celicas. there's little shits like plastic pieces missing, some wiring mess, but all in all, she's fast as hell! she does slow down at 6.5-7k rpm, you guys know anything about that? PICS TMRW!
Wooo Hooo....... the saying 'You can't always get what you want' doesn't apply here.... good deal dude, more pics
thanks guys! so some diagnosis: -heater problem, doesn't go from hot to cold (what a surprise), pretty sure this only needs the resoldering fix -trunk latch area rust, spare tire area needs attention, wheel fender lips need attention, some rust is starting to be visible... -fuel level stays at full, even with a different sender. -tiny exhaust leak WAYYYY easier than my other car lol work done this week: -fixed driver's side power windows -LED everywhere (can't stand the yellowish courtesy lights) -replaced non-matching grey interior bits to blue. (it's supposed to be blue, but previous owner had grey on it...) -overall clean up: previous owner was a smoker...fucking ashtray was gross; trunk area was a pool... -claybar! -facelift front end + euro corners -autopal h4's + 6000k hid's -new spark plug wires (old ones were ripped... Check out my emissions testing: 2011-10-12 @ 224,000km DRIVING: 8 ppm HC/0.00% CO/23 ppm NOx IDLE: 8 ppm HC/0.00 % CO
- fuel gauge fixed, after a new sender, i realized it only needed a new gauge...oh well new for both now lol - passenger's side locking mechanism needs some adjustment, it only unlocks halfway when a key is used. HVAC controls still don't move the motor. i've detached the motor from everything, yet it doesn't rotate at all. rick89, do you have a working one from your 86 gt-s that i can borrow to try out?? previous owner was a smoker...i've tried a plethora of scents but the smoke smell keeps on coming back, how do i get rid of this??
I would take the ash tray out of the car (for now)........ I would then use a clean white cotton cloth and a bucket of warm water (no soap) and give the whole interior a good scrubbing....... seats, roof, door trims and rear parcel shelf etc..... etc...... and lastly, steam clean the carpets, while your at it, steam clean the seats and door trims. Scrub the shit out of that ashtray and let it soak in some hot water over night with some lavender or tea tree oil or whatever spins your crank. I'm an ocassional smoker and I will rarely smoke in the car, if I do, the windows and/or sunroof has to be open and I NEVER use the ashtray..... I have a seperate sealed container with a bit of sand in it for butts. Scents are no good until you get the smoke residue off/out of everything............. I once visited someone who lived in a caravan and the smoke residue was black and nearly dripping off the laminated roof :barf Hey Kids........ Moral of the story......... don't smoke........ tis bad for the interior :lachtot
Do tell......... I'm interesed in all things LED.......... Show me, and where did you buy them opcorn I know they are a tad more expensive (a lot actually) but I wanna go LED all round the car, they're bighter, cooler and use f'k all power and they last forever. I have LED torches, LED house lights and a 22 inch LED monitor and the low power consumption is amazing, my LED monitor uses 23 watts :shock .......... My old 17 inch CRT monitor used 180 :shock ......... LED tv is next.
