Someone broke my ignition switch and now my key won't turn. I took apart the back and I'm able to start the car but the steering wheel won't turn. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Well I managed to get my steering wheel unlocked by taking a hammer and a flat head screwdriver and jamming it into the ignition. Now to get a replacement. Bastards.

Hope the cops weren't around when you went into the car with a hammer & screwdriver.

-I was gonna suggest breaking it yesterday, but...... i had to do the same on my first car (subie) when the ign burnt out. it was easier just to break it than replace it.

    -srry that sucks.

thats what i had told him on the phone, i thought at first he had to get to work so i told him just to break it......replacement should be easy as i think its just the whole assembly....you'll have to pull the wheel

mmmm. id have to look at the book, but i think normally its gonna involve drilling out security screws, and could actually require a fair amount of disassembly. not the easy type either, honestly dont know but i can see this being a decent size PITA of a job. if it were easy the cars would be easy to steal.

-i was kinda holding my tounge hoping someone who had messed with one would chime in before i suggested breaking it. to late.

the whole part isn't hard to change...you just got to pull the wheel and then unplug stuff and pull and replace. the locker is located within the (whatever you wanna call it) with the wipers, lights, etc.....

AND OUR CARS ARE VERY EASY TO STEAL!........ i told mike how to do it over the phone....its even quicker if you already have a certain part.
