Electrical Systems acting strangely

While i was driving recently my battery light came one. I dint have the money to replace it and a few days later my Turn Signal Warning, Battery, and E-Brake light turned on. A day after that im driving through my neighborhood and my radio starts coming in and out so i stop the car and cant start it so obviously dead battery.

I pick up a new battery and install it. The car starts up fine but i still have the three warning lights coming up on my dash. Could this be the alternator failing or some kind of fuse problem?

    Edit:
I have an 88' All Trac

I doubt this will matter but i just remembered something.

I had my master/slave replaced recently and in the process my clutch strater switch was disconnected. SO instead of replacing it my mechanic put in a bypass which is just a while that is looped into both terminals of the Clutch starter system. Im not quite sure how it would effect this but if it does then ill have some idea of what to do next...

There may be a short in the system, or something is poorly grounded. I dunno, I know jack-shit about electrical systems...

sounds like a bad alt, possibly bad grounds though. go through and double check them. the bypass might be causing it to drain but I doubt it.

mannnnnnn that battery logo on your dash doesnt mean battery it means charging system, test your voltage at your battery while running and not running, also test voltage at the alt it self to see if there is a bad connection somewhere. if all that tests ok take ur alt out and bring it to can tire to test it for free

which turn signal light are u talking about the left/right or the rear light burnt out light?

it is almost definately your alt but check your charge fuses and such

Thanks, i know know with all certainty that it is the alternator.

None of my lights were actually burned out, i just came up as a warning light on the dash along with the other symptoms.

My Cars battery died today while i was driving at about 1:00AM. This didnt really suprise me because of the dead battery before so now i can put the alternator in my car without worrying about if it is bad or not.

Ive ran into another problem however, it seems like my starter is broken. I got my dad to give me a jump in a gas station parking lot and although my electrical systems did come back on i couldn't get the car to crank. It make the click/click/click sound that ive always heard when a cars starter dies. Is there anyway i can check this easily?

If not then im going to have to take it in, and im kinda broke at the moment so the prospect dosent sit well with me...

your battery was probably too weak from the old alt to have enough charge in it to start the car. try the starter trick as well.

Yeah my alternator is fried, so im going to replace it.

Ive read a lot of posts on alltrac.net which says that the toyota alternators are the only ones that really last on these cars. Is this true and if so what kind of a price hike can i expect from buying one from the dealer?

i bought my rebuilt from can tire for 70$ with a 1 year warantee, running over 2000wrms with a stock battery, still charges perfect :p that was about 1.5 years ago id say

I couldnet tell ya. Having a bit of difficulty in getting the alternator off of the car, its the two main bolts holing it in, i cant get them off.

Well got the alternator back in the car, was not able to put back on the air intake/cooler for it but i doubt that will be a problem.

Car starts up fine and i no longer have the three dash lights (lightbuld warning, battery, and brake) on during driving. They do come up however when the car is ON but the engine is not running along with an check engine light. Any ideas?

why exactly do tracs need though? too much power going to it from the crank?

too much heat with the stock hood.

Alright got the alternator back on with the housing for the air duct.

When i reconnected the battery instead of negative terminal first I installed the positive one. I believe this cleared the ECU of any codes some how because now i don't have any lights coming up on my dash when the car in in the ON position or when it runs. I guess im good now, thanks everyone for the suggestions/help.
