Sounds like an injector issue to me. My car did that a lot when I first got it. I ran some cleaner through it and that got rid of the backfiring and some of the loss of power. But it sounds like you have bigger problems than just dirty fuel injectors. So I'll let someone who knows what they are talking about help. Sorry.

Double or Triple check yopur Spark plugs- when you installed them you may have tap the resistor or one of the wires are faulty--- And a ECU is not going to cost a couple thousand.... :?

I thought backfiring was a timing issue, no?

someone probably has a spare ECU in the buy/sell section that you can get for like 100 bucks, if that's the problem then that's a lot cheaper than $1000!

It is- I just had problems with a spark plug wire and it caused the celi to back fire- and when acclerating moderatley it would start to jump like It was running out of gas.....

And the Idle was just nuts run smooth for 2 secs and start sputtering harshly thier after!

if it backfires then you either have the firing order wrong or the timing wrong

I'm with mafix, follow your wires from the dizzy n' make sure there in the right order, then check ya timing. Its a lot cheaper. then go from there. Plugs or either the dizzy itself. Usually its the easy shite.
