whats and egr? and what does it stand for? all i can think of is exhaust gas reburner. and im guessing its that thing coming out of the exhaust manifold leading towards the intake?? and would cutting or clamping this off increase performance at all? ----------------------------- other subject!! i just removed the 3s-ge cylidner head, due 2 a blown gasket and am wondering if theres anythign i should need 2 no as in gaskets timing etc and how to set the engine to TDC? incase i lost the timiing i dotn want any valves making love 2 any pistons.... lol all help apreciated!!
"The EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Exhaust gas is routed back into the combustion chamber because the exhausted air is much hotter than the intake air (try touching a muffler sometime). By sending warmer gas into the combustion chamber, the air/fuel mix does not have to do as much work to heat up, and your engine runs more efficiently, producing less emissions."
