Hey guys my E-Brake cable snapped today. Its my understanding that ill need to replace the entire E-Brake cable assembly. My question is where the E-Brake attaches to the rear calipers how is the cable attached there? I know of a st165 in a local yard and plan to go pull the cable tomorrow. How difficult of a job is this going to be will i need to bleed the brake system? If anyone can provide pictures or a diagram of the E-Brake system that would be much appreciated.

i did it on my 162...its easy......about the bleeding i have no idea......when you pull it make sure to watch out for any leaking.....but i dont think you have to bleed the brakes as i didnt have to.....

and also you have to pull the whole system...from handle to rear brake connector....its a bitch but easy at the same time.

there's 3 cables, one is a short one from the e-brake handle to just about 1 foot behind it (it kind of hides above your exhaust) then it hooks up to two cables, one to the left and one to the right.

don't think there's any bleeding needed as the whole thing is just a cable. (not sure about 165's though)

Thanks guys. Yeah i took a good long look at the system when i snapped the 1 foot section before the T or Y connecter to the two other cables left and right. i snapped the cable just behind the e-brake i could see the frayed end when i took the center console out. Looks to be simple enough just wasn't sure because it looks as though the cables attach to something on the brake caliper but its a rubber hose so I'm a bit baffled by it. Looks more like its a brake hose rather then a cover over a cable. I guess ill find out tomorrow. Oh and after snapping mine it is possible to keep your e-brake handle is you so please you simply have to take the two nuts off the threaded end.
