what if you hardwire your rad fan to a switch, and turn it on after a km or two? I think that could work if the coolant is always circulating, but if it dosnt, maybe time for a new stat. just a thought for a temp solution
I know that sound very well. My old celica sounded the same when I drove it. I thought maybe there was some air somewhere in the cooling system. Neway, I never fixed it and sold the car like that. I never had any problems with it though, just dind't sound so great.
I have the fan hard-wired to a switch already because it wasn't turning on due to (probably) a faulty thermostat....meh....my temp gauge works fine and the car never overheats but it just sounded weird that night....
look at the fan, there should be two wires running off of it somewhere, one will be ground and the other will be power. splice into the wires, attaching the ground to ground somewhere on the car, and run a power wire to the battery with a switch in between. you can put the switch anywhere you want, but I would recommend somewhere in the cabin.
To update this particular thread....my car sounded like it was boiling because coolant was probably spilling onto the engine because my water pump was fucked.
oh after reading this again thinking it was a new thread i was gonna say air in the system, i guess i was kinda right if u had a leak
air in the system....isn't there always air in the system since it's partially h2o, o being an oxygen molecule? hah
meh. oxygen isn't air...it's in air. air is mostly nitrogen. besides, to be classified in such manner, wouldn't it have to be in a gaseous state? therefore water still doesn't count, even if we're considering oxygen air...unless it is vaporizing...in which case you usually see it coming from under the hood...and then it is escaping the system, not in it see, now i'm the loser
