Passengers driving you nuts at night grabbing your lock instead of your opening handle?

    There is a solution

By placing a small LED into the door handle space we can light up the door handle for the passengers and the drivers , This will mean no more lock shrouds being pulled off and no more broken clips. Also there will be less of a panic when people with claustrophobia cant seem to get he handle.

The light can come on at different stages, The schematic ive designed lights up the LED in the handle to come on when the car is turned off and the ignition barrel lights up , and also when the door is open.

The idea of the diode going between the two lights is that the rear door light doesnt light up at the same time as the handle when the door is closed. But once the door is open the handle will stay lighting up making it easier to see at night and not causing the mini heart attack people seem to get when trying to get out of the car

The leds can be bought here
    Prewired LED + resistor
And the holders can be bought here
    LED holders
The diode for preventing them both lighting up when shut is this
    Diode

they are fitted by just drilling a 5mm hole into the caseing of the handle and they then pop into this hole. They can be then wired into the circut.

When finished the desired effect is this.

Been thinking of doing this as i've had the same problem with passengers not finding the door opening .

Was thinking of wiring to the sidelights & ignition ring so they light up when the ignition is turned off when passenger & driver is geting out .
But also stays on when the sidelights are on so when your pulling up to just drop passengers off and not turning the ignition off to get out yourself .
Going to use a dull blue led so it's not distracting at night when driving as it will be on with the lights

Gotta love LED's.......... You can put them anywhere and they use little power.

LED's are defintely one of humans most brilliant inventions.

I have a question................ Why can't I buy AA and AAA rechargable Li-On batteries ?.................. Because they last 'forever'.

NI-MH batteries are doing ok but hey............
