Not at all, and as Stig pointed out, autos have that ECT button for times when we need that little bit extra power, like when overtaking a long vehicle.

Manual :cheers, I get bored driving an auto. But i guess i can't really say since I've only been driving manual for 2 years or so. Maybe i'll get tired of manual in a few more years :corsair

Exactly. From standing still it does shift too early and I find it awkward and frustrating lol. Overdrive is mostly for hilly and mountain driving and such as I've heard before.

    1>2 change @ 2k rpm
    2>3 @ roughly 1.8k rpm

unless i step on the pedal, but that takes away the purpose of just cruising

On ours you can lock them in any gear, strange as I thought that would mainly
be used in icy slippery conditions

There must be a lot of variations - what is your revs at 100km?
On snowy it was something like 2000@100km in O/D, 2500@100km no O/D

    2300@100km/h with O/D, something close to 3200@100km/h without O/D

lock them in any gear? as in L means only 1, 2 means 2/1, D means 3/2/1? or does your actually stay in the selected gear if you want?

edit: took it out to find out, updated the numbers

D is also 1/2/3/4. Unless your car only has 3 gears lol

O/D is 1/2/3/4, D is 1/2/3, as far as i know, that is the only auto 4thgen config.

Ah, you're right. I'm going up a hill and I'm flooring it and it's still at 3k that's still on overdrive at 4. Then I take it off overdrive and it switches down to 3 and now I can overtake cars much easier.

i love going at about 90km/h @ 4th, then flooring it, it jumps to 2nd @ 4.5k and all you hear is BRRAAAHHHHHHHH. i swear me and nate did this at least 20 times cruising back home from the PNW meet in feb

O/D isnt an extra gear, its a seperate kind of unit built into the gearbox which adds 1/3 the revoulution of the gear ontop of it, so if your wheel was spinnin at lets just say 900 rpm, and you put on O/d it would jump too 1200 rpm, so it would almost feel like another gear , but O/D is normally set to only come on in 3rd and 4th on most 4 geared auto boxes, but its not an extra gear, more like an extra type of gearbox

On ours O/D works in all gears, it's a seperate reduction gear built into the box
I believe these boxes were available in 3 and 4 speed versions, I think the 1S, 2S versions were 3 speed
    but how do you tell?

Never seen one of those runing, only way to spot those boxes is the starter is the wrong way round
(like a GE) but the shop I'm working at says there's 3 speed versions

I knew I read somewhere that cars with O/D had a separate gearbox or set of gearing. Thanks for clearing that up.
