Dman's 5th race meet of 2008 - results are posted

On Saturday, June 28 I ran in the 4th meet of the season - and got 2nd place in the feature race!

Heat - 9th
Qualifier - 6th
Feature - 2nd

It was a real intense night of racing. I realized I needed to get over a bit of timidness that I got after my crash at the 2nd meet. So there was definately some contact going on. I ended up pulling a perfect PIT maneuver on another guy in a Celica who was driving like an idiot. It's really neat how the other car just rolls across the front bumper so easily. It was good to test my new front fender reinforcements that keep the fender from crumpling when hit. The finish was down to the wire, the guy who came in 3rd was right behind me.

 

They usually don't flag you if the other guy deserves it or they might give a rolled up black (warning). It happened going into the corner, he wasn't running his line. He kept cutting down from up high to the inner groove where I was trying to pass him. So the last time intstead of checking up, I just stayed there and let him spin himself out. :lol: I just kept right on going, waiting for the yellow flag to come out.

I'll post up some new pics tonight hopefully in the member's rides section. Now I have to add 30lbs to the car because of my finish.

 

Way to go on the 2nd. What track to you race at? What engine do you use?
I have so many questions as i am racing an oval too.

 

I race at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway - in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I run a 3sge. You should check out my car in the member's rides section, and post a thread with your car.

congrats Dman. Better and better huh? Wish i had more personal stories in the 4th gen. As of yet, its almost ALL been garage stories...oh well.

That's just the pic from the barrie speedway website - it's easy to add them to your posts if you have them hosted somewhere else (like imageshack or photobucket). Just use the Img tags with the image url in between.

Nice job on the 9th place - you guys have almost twice as many cars as us, so I'd say that's a great finish.

I went over your rule package, and it is very similar to the one out here. Eccept we can modify our suspension, and run camber on all 4 tires. Last practice session, one of the mini stocks was within half a second of the fastest street stock for lap times

Heat Race: 9th place
Qualifier: 6th place
Feature 4th place

I also know some lap times thanks to the new transpoder system at the track. My fastest of the night was 18.165s, with an average of about 18.2s.

It seems that the extra weight only made me faster - I was running a full 2 tenths of a second faster than my previous record for the year.

 

I finnaly got my first top five finish in the feature race of eighteen cars. I would like to thank everyone for all there input.

 

Nice man, it feels damn good to get up near the top, eh? The night of the race where I got second I was so pumped full of adrenaline that I didn't sleep till 4 am.

 

I finished 2nd in last nights feature I had started the race in seventh and after a few cautions I found myself fighting for the win against a prelude with a 240 on my tail. same deal though i didnt get to sleep till the early morning hours!!

 

I was on the website for your track dman, and noticed another celica there. is it running the same engine as you?
