Ive got a roll of 20% tint to install in my car, the current tint has turned a puple colour and is rippled like crazy, when I get some time on a warmer day Im gonna GIve it a shot. I cant open ebay links here, but its probably similar, i got mine at one of those small supermarkets that sell everything, even car assessories at %70 off cuz noone was buying them lol, I got the tint kit for 8 dollars and a shift knob for 5 :) I'll make a post when I get mine done and u can see the results

For those that can't open the link, its precut for the car so all you have to do is put it up.

pre cut? hum, I woudlnt pay a pro to do it, if I can just do it myself in a coupel hours, Id miss out on all the fun. But im sure some people are liek me and do everything themself so they can learn how its done. I know that a hair dryer or heat gun are good to have, to shrink areas there the glass curves. Now I wanna get out there and try it, ive had it for a few months sitting wait for me, I cant do it any worse than the anchient purplish, bubblie stuff thats already on there ;)

I just bought precut tint from ebay for my bimmer. I was going to test fit the back piece on the outside but then I thought "its precut so why waste my time"...so I get the lining off and go to apply it to the back window and it is completely the wrong shape. I go and grab the side pieces and they are all wrong too. The moron sent me tint cut for an entirely different car.

On another note....if it was for the right car it appears to be machine cut and looks like high quality stuff......I just have to deal with the seller and get him to send me the right stuff

But for the price precut is the way to go. Because the hardest part of tinting yourself is cutting

Thats what I was thinking. If its already the right shape... as Jeremy Clarkson says, "How hard can it be?"

If the cut is good, yeah an inexperienced individual could def. pull off a pro install for 1/2 the cost if the correct prep cleaning solution, application fluid and technique is used :D

As for a "perfect" OEM pre-cut I dunno, I'm a skeptic. It's just some dude with a vinyl cutter selling shit over e-bay. There's NO cad files to use for our cars (that I know of anyway) so I don't know how they pulled that one off unless they've done a 4g Celi before or obtained exact mesurements from someone to create "cut" files with. Even then, it could be off a bit as vinyl cutters are only as good/precise as the illustrator/operator :?

for the price, if i would use tint, it would be worth a shot. even if it got so screwed up that i'd throw it all out i'd still have to try.

Removing it isn't so bad.....you'll need a heat gun...but you might want to use a heatgun for the install too anyway....some do, some don't....
