Hey all. just a query as to what other options i may have to make my life easier with high pressure power steering hoses. My one is leaking slowly and will need replacing.has anyone got one or know of conpatible ones i can fit to my car such as the st184 hose fitting? Thank you
Come on guys 16 views and no response surely someone can be a bit of help? Even if someone has one for sale thats not leaking it would help me out.
go to a repair shop for farmer equipment (whatever it's calles)... hydraulics hoses are more than strong enough and they probably have the correct fastening bits as well if you bring your own with you.
the 162 line should still be readily available but if you have to change it up a bit i believe most of the 3s and 5s powered cars have a similar setup. i could get you a part number if that will help?
Why not just get the correct one, they're not very expensive new. It's such a pain to get in there, I'd just go with new or custom. Link: http://www.st162.net/forum/showthread.php?2140-PS-Pump-amp-Hose-Repair
Cheers guys.the only reason i havent gone new yet is i got quoted over $100 for a new hose where i can get one for most other models for roughly $50 and under brand new from a mate who works in an spare parts shop but we couldnt check the differences as he didnt have any in stock. I realise now i should have explained it a bit better in my 1st post as to what i was asking. thank you for the link to the how to guide i shall have that close by when i do the swap over.
No problem, but I did a quick search and the high pressure hose for the 162 is only about $50. Autozone has them for only $37. I'd check again, someone may have misquoted you. Autozone: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...r-Steering-Pressure-Line-Hose/_/N-iivbxZ8oz1z
Yup, thanks dude, what's the number ? They are no longer avaliable in Australia. You said you 'believe'........... sounds like you're not sure ? What's the 'change up' ?............ are they longer or what ?......... and do they have the same thread patten ?
Cheers man, i have searched the american sites to source one as it is cheaper and the places i called up for a replacement one all gave me the same quote including a power steering specialist who i have a relative working there who can't do them any cheaper. And he said that there is only 1 supplier for the part in Aus and he knows how hard they are to get which is why they are soo expensive here. And it is also hard to just grab one at the wreckers as any hose at the wreckers over my way is cut as they prefer to remove all liquids from the car and don't care how they do it. and unfortunately they always cut the high pressure hose
Its all good man i dont know why its not showing my location in the corner it did when i 1st signed up and have tried sorting it out to show but cant get it to work. reset everything and its now showing dag nabbit
We also get ripped off in Canada b/c car parts are twice as expensive than in the USA. I mail order now to a US postal outlet and it's still cheaper.
Cheers sean i shall look into getting one. If it comes down to it i may even get 2 from the states as i need one for my spare celica as well so may as well kill 2 birds with one stone.
