I am getting confused on which units will work in my car. I guess I should add that the 86 BGB doesnt show the one I have but either the one with the levers or the one that I can buy. I can get this one cheap: This is what like the one I have now: Will the one at the top work with mine? I have seen both shown for the 86 and 87.[/img]
Then why does one have temp. markings and what appears to be an additional auto button? It seems like they are quite similar.
Hell, I might be seeing things, but it looks like the button to the left of the temp control says Auto with a fan symbol. It really just boils down to the fact that I want to be sure it will work if I buy that.
yours is a GT-S the other is off of an Alltrac... I think its different since the alltrac did have an auto climate thingy...
both say auto though? my gt-s has auto climate. i am so confused now. i want the cool silver grater thing on the end too! damnit!!!!
They are the same. all that button to the left of the temperature slider is, is "HI". It just looks different. It should work in your car. I have something completely different from that, where as my fan control switches are at the top... I wouldn't buy it, if it's going to cost an arm and a leg, just to find out it won't work, but if it's 20-30 bucks, I would buy it, just to see... lol Then again, I love doing that anyhow... What's the worst that can happen? That you have to sell it again, and possibly make more money?! lol
It is cheap, i think it is $43 shipped. I got worried b/c they look different and the BGB doesn't mention the one that looks like the one in my car.
Hold on boys, those 2 units are definitely NOT the same. Don't worry; they are swappable but I'll explain the difference. The top unit with number settings shows the auto AC climate control; the bottom is the normal manual unit. The auto AC automatically adjust the AC and fan speeds to maintain the cabin temperature at the desired setting. It takes into account the outside temperature to turn on the ac and/or fan as necessary. The regular unit , you set the temperature slider bar and have to manually turn on the AC if you want it cooler or turn off the fan manually. Cliff notes: Auto AC comes on and off to automatically adjust and maintain comfortable cabin temp at the selected setting; the other, you have to manually turn on the AC. The difference, IMO, is negligible but that's the way the Toyota manual explains the difference.
But will it work on auto since that is not what was originally in my car? Are all the necessary sensors and whatnot preinstalled?
