I found some chains that i would like to use to pull my engine out. Their breaking point is 5000 mininume. heres what they look like. Would these be good to use?

i know they look sketchy but the pakage said 5000 lbs per chain. Their safty chains for when towing, so if their made for when a hitch fails to tow something, i think they can lift an engine. but idk, i want someone experanced's opinion.

I think they will be fine... I wouldnt use the hooks though. They might slip off. I usually slip one of the links over the engine hoists right on the engine on either side.

I have hooks on mine that are not big enough so I have chain big enough for the hooks to slip through

ya if they are for 5000 lbs the enginge is nowhere near that those hooks look like i could bend them any which way though haha

I would keep the chains. I would go to home depot and get some better hooks.

i usually bolt the chain to the motor so it wont slip

Just make sure you use a grade 5 or better bolt.

Or could use an "add-a-link" to get a bigger link on the end of the chain.

I used a 2 tonne chain hoist with what looks like smaller chains than that...but I used a locking hook with a thread on it to latch it all together....the chains like to slip and shit when you lift out the engine...
