Nice. Toyota needs to dig deep and find its balls, maybe they'd actually make cars worth driving again. I don't care about the Scion's and Lexus's. I want Toyota to make a fun car. The Supra's also up there, and the MR2 is going on the next list. Kinda sad, really.

Yea... Toyota kinda went crazy in the mid 90's going from having 4 sports cars to having 4- different SUV's LOL

Atleast Toyota's 4 door sedan still kicks nissan's 350z ass

yes i too am upset with the way toyota is going. however, if they were to bring back the supra or the mr2 turbo or an all trac, imagine what the sticker price on those things would be. the supra would be close to 50k and the mr2 would be about 35k. although the all trac would probably be somewhere around the high 20-mid 30k range. there is no way that someone would pay that when they can get more efficient cars with all the bells and whistles. that totally sux too. i think the last strive toyota made for a tuner consumer was the mr-s and the matrix. at least the matrix came with all wheel drive and a 6 speed in the s version. the mr-s although a road eater, is feminine to a tee. although there are some bad-ass mods for both cars. i would really like to see them bring back the corolla coupe. i had an ae92 and i must say that was a blast of a car in both sr5 and gt-s trim. but the closest thing we will get to tuning is corola xrs, tc's (the new celica with trd supercharger  :hail: ) and some of the matrix's maybe making an impact. too bad. but we at least know we can buy cars from the past 20 years or so with parts still available...for now.

If subaru can make the STI for 30k then toyota can make an all trac for 30k or less.

if toyota made a new alltrac, i would buy it, no questions ask, i dont care what the price, i would find a way to pay for it.

a while back toyota was i think going to push the matrix as the all trac. i remember the corolla all trac and this looked similar to a matrix with only 2 doors though i think. i will try and find it again. i know nothing came of it though. also, i know everyone here all (214) members would get the trac, but speaking from a marketing position, that is not a large enough number to make the car let alone import it. yes there are many other forums out there with people willing to buy the car, but once again that is only a small portion of the market. i would love to see that market come but i am not going to hold my breathe. however, when/if it does i will be fist in line to buy them bitches and add all trd parts along with all the bells and whistles. no miles either so i can proudly say i broke it in, wore it out and tossed it away! ahahaha

I think making a serious all-trac, as the original, would be a feat in itself! They seemed to be awesome cars, with some serious kick! :) I would love to get a hold of the drive-train, and make my vert all-trac! lol ;) What would become of Toyota, if they didn't have something up their sleeves?

NSX__They are still going to make the NSX- its actually going to converted to a Front engine rear wheel drive- due to cornering issues.
    JAGUARS- Suck anyways.
SUPRA - Is coming back under the Lexus name tag. some crazy XR300 or some crap.
MAZDA- has been running the RX line for years- they may never stop that seris.
BUICK- Got in trouble for making a car faster than the corvette..lololol
MR2 - is just the MRS.

Would be nice, but I don't see Toyota making a car like that. If they did, it would be under the Lexus badge, which is lame.

And just for the record: The ST162 chassis, and especially the ST162 vert, does not tolerate being converted to AWD. Sorry to rain on your parade man. The best us ST162 owners can do is swap the engine, giving craploads of power to the front wheels, but the AWD system is off limits.

I have always deamt of making a 165 speedster like the old classic porsches, take a 162 vert, cut the floor pan outa 165 swap with 162, then shed loads of strengthing, cut down tinited and raked screen, no side windows two seats only, with two humps behind seats and chrome roll bars, painted cherry black, with tan leather interior, weld rims, slammed and running 400bhp. Never happen, but man that would look the dogs testies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone wants to give me £100k I will take a year off work and make it happen!! lol

lol What have I started... ;) But yeah, it still would be sick. But yeah, half the cars on the list, are cars that will be made until the end of man, or be reborn, such as the MR series was, by toyota. What about the RX series? They have an RX8, which is the same size, and damn near, weight, as the 7. If you ask me, it's an upgraded version, with more potential! :) I am not a, "rotary engine" fan, but that is because of the issues that they can contain... Ever try to rebuild one? I have! lol Took me a month of fiddling with the thing, just to put it all back together, definitely not for the faint of heart!

I think, Toyota would be better off making the ST162 a classic, and pushing a remake of it, but with slightly different lines... You know? I mean the newest celica, the 2000-now, looks sort of like the 162 base model, but the lines are really harsh... I would love to see that... Hell, how about a vert with all-trac?! ;) :D

I always wondered why Toyota didnt bring out that 7th gen Convert that would have been a big seller for them.

But as far as the Alltrac coming back its Actually still being made in some aspects- Tha Caldena has the AWD Setup pushing 260-290 HP, its just sitting under the Matrix shell. Did you guys know that the AWD Matrix that came to the US. only had 142 HP, and the front whell drive had 124 ???

I am really not a fan of the top heavy looking matrix, with it's minimal power plant... Had they given it the balls, around the same hp as the Subaru boxer engines, then it would have been a higher market, I would think... But with Subaru pushing 220 on their boxer engines, Toyota is having issues, or not even trying to keep up with them, and maybe focusing on a different group of people... I hope they weren't looking towards the tuner market, rather than the WRX market, as the rice rockets seemed to drop widely, with the drifting and WRX scenes pushing through to the front of the group. 1/4 mile is not as interesting, as someone drifting around a parking garage, or someone ripping it up in the dirt corners of some otherworld country... I am a drifting fan, and I really love world rally cross... It just seems like more of an adrenaline rush.

Either way, it seems as though that market, that they had been looking at is dwindling down, and people are more worried about looking for gas mileage, than tuning abilities, with the insertion of the echo, and many other hybrids. Which is where Honda sort of dropped out of that market also... If you haven't noticed, the Honda is now factory tuned, with minimal upgrades, as compared to previous generations... Oh well, either way, I think the older Celica, will have a following of enthusiasts, and they will continue to smoke grandma's grocery getters... ;)

thats the thing though. toyotas market has moved from "lets be the most powerful all around car company" to "lets be like honda and have 1 cool car and send everything else to scion and lexus" the two things honda has working for it now are the civic si both coupe and sedan with the limited mugen edition and the s2k along with the nsx that has now turned into a competitor with ferrari and lambos. to compete with that toyota has the tc, corolla xrs( o0o0o0 a 6 speed and disc brakes) and then the sc430 which is like a poor mans porsche. well i still can;t afford it but anyways. toyota is still the number one seller in jdm trucks and suv's. they still have trd parts but they are looking a different demographic now. instead of appealing to people our age, they are appealing to people that were our age 10 years ago and who now have kids. why? because that is the market that can really afford to pay 30k for a freaking truck. or 60k for the same truck but the lexus edition. its nuts man. not to mention the strict laws of the us. i mean we were cut like 3 years from the mr2 before it became the mrs, we only got 2 trims and although one was thrilling the other was considered a grocery getter. the supra lasted longer over there as well. because our market was in a flux and sales were down for sports cars that were once affordable and are not assertainable now. have you guys seen the prices for jza80 supras now? the sticker price when they first came out was 25k...it as since doubled that price for used. are you insane? i am almost not willing to pay double the price a car was when it came new from the showroom with all the bells and whistles. not only that but not many people would pay that price for a brand new one this day and age. it really sux. i think toyota really copped out when they did away with corolla coupes. my ae92 was so nice. id compare it to my celica which is almost exactly the same but a little more powerful and a hatch. toyota lost the market on that one man. bad move toyota!

*sighs* It will one day be different, and the market will come back, and hopefully hit stronger. :) "What happened to Japanese muscle?" "It's in Japan, just not enough market here for them to want to ship it here..." Which sucks balls, but we can import, it just costs more to do that, than the cars are really worth... Though, owning an R34 skyline, in right side drive, makes it have that exotic appeal... And the fact that it's AWD in the Type R edition, also helps! ;) Still wish Toyota would think for a hard second...

Except that U.S. Customs will crush any R34 Skyline shipped here now. Or send it back to Japan. either way, The car doesn't make it here. You can import them to Canada, but I don't even think you can drive them to US and register them here, without doing a bunch of inane safety mods. IIRC the only skyline still allowed into the US is the R33, which is my favorite one anyway.

GT-R is Skyline AWD, not Type R. Type R is Hondas bag, and it smells of lame.

At least Toyota is still better than Honda. What have they made? The NSX and S2000? Hardly affordable.

And Mazda RX8's are stupid, they're still a 4-door and ugly as sin. Plus everyone here who has one drives like a tool.

They should bring back the 4th gen Celica. No modifications, no upgrades, except maybe a FWD turbo already built.

edit: didn't they mess up on that list? the Alltrac went til 98 no?
