so im in the works on getting a hood made....thinking the CS scoop in REAL carbon fiber , not an overlay...... dude wants 2500 to make a mold unless i have enough interest for multiple people. price would be somewhere around 750 ( high side) 450 (lower side) i will know more on Monday evening when i meet this guy face to face at his shop here in Vancouver Washington. NOT SHIPPED OF COURSE. i will also be asking about the headlight tops as well. so around this price range who would be interested in this? A DEPOSIT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE GO AHEAD! not to me but his shop of course. let the chat and b.s start. please dont post here if all you have to say is "ahh i want one but have to wait."
$450-$750 is still a big window of a price.. any chance of getting a better idea? ie. 10 people it's xxx, 15 it's xxx, etc?
okay so i got the prices.....sry for the small delay.. this is the hood, but we'll be getting carbon fiber. if you want an OEM hood without a scoop its 600 if you want an OEM hood with a scoop (185 C.S.) its 650 about the eyelids.......if you buy them with a hood its 195 extra 250 without a hood. payment of 50% is due before any progress is done. it will take 4 weeks for the first parts to come off the line then every 3 days for the next ones, and people will be in the order of their sign-ups. need 9 people. if you want to know the process i can ask Ian to sign up and explain.....but ill tell you this...he is a toyota nut.....but hes into the corollas.....got a nice gt-s sitting in his shop. 1. 187flatliner (st162.net) 2. Mitsuslider (alltrac.net) 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. come on guys lets get this thing moving along
They don't make one for the 4th gen, yet. Although they do come stock for the 6th gen alltrac, I'm pretty sure. I've seen some on ebay, not even CF going for 450, so it's a pretty good price we're getting at here. This one below goes for 600+, if I can recall. The same concept for the one Nate and others are trying to get made but there isn't a flowing slope on the scoop like it does on RevHead's. Those two smaller outlet scoops near the windshield would be a nice edition for the hood though. Wish I had the money :sad
hey hey its a picture of my broom lol I made that bonnet almost from scratch (even the vent needed alot of work) and believe me it took a lot of effort. orginally i was gonna make up the lil side vents at the back aswell but after i did the initial vent i didnt think they would suit nor could i be bothered Also look in the HOW TO section. i did a thread on how to make one also would like to point out that the red bonnet pictured above is not a 185 RC bonnet but a st205 grp A bonnet. they are always expensive as 205's arent that common and they were made of alluminium. ESracing got an actual 185 RC bonnet moulded into his 165. so actually had the sections cut and welded in. in the end i think it cost him almost as much as the car!
yeah this group buy will most likely die in the threads like most other ones....everyones broke or doesnt want to pay that much for the rarity which is understandable....i might just pay the dude the 3300 bucks to make the mold and then start selling them myself.
I'm very interested and would commit to one if i had steady income right now. Lets not let this thread die and get this hood made! I may be able to commit to one of these in a month or so. Ill keep you posted.
esracing does not have a chopped hood. he bought a brand new 185rc hood from toyota, took the skin off and reskinned his 165 hood. it cost him near 2K usd.
I never said anything about a 185 RC bonnet lol. Although I do have the mold scoop Grp A style from the 205. Looks like I bought the last one on Ebay, everything else is the full hood. Installing as soon as I get the 3sGTE in
not saying you did just didnt want people gettin confused lol ahh ok, my bad mafix/ still very expensive lol (mind you it looks damn hot!)
I do not visit this board much but I am in for one with scoop and eyelids. Do not know if this will happen but I will send you a pm and we can talk 187flatliner. I say if you are going to get this hood made from scratch, put all the options in it like those two smaller outlet scoops near the windshield…just an idea, from Jamezzy.
it wouldnt be made from scratch either....i would hit the yards and get an oem hood with eyelids and then he would make a mold of them.
