had distributor out for oil leak and valve cover, put back in and timed it (didnt drive it), went to drive it next day fired up for 20 seconds then shut off, opened it up to find both ears laying inside

maybe i tightened it to much, i did put a new o ring on, is fixing it just punching the pin out and new end, also how do i know when i put it back together which way the rotor should face?

i would think you installed it upsidedown or someone previous to you did.

just get a whole distributor on here or at a junk yard. they typicall do not go bad.

(you cant put it in upside down the end with ears is offset)

ended up getting a junk yard one for 21, got home hooked it up, drove car around the block, felt a little down on power and tach would go up and down when starting, the yard one was off a stick camry but that shouldnt matter 3sfe

shut car off, ten minutes later it wouldnt start, checked no spark (bad yard one in 5 mins:(), so i gave both distributors to a buddy to try to switch the ends without mixing up which way it goes on, my case and inside are pretty beat and cracked but still work, if not ill just buy a rockauto for 112 shipped i guess...

oh you can install it upside down. i've seen it. it won't seat correctly, but you can.

i guess the junk yard one had gotten wet internally. or humidity fried the coil windings.
