ok, so mine are more or less fucked, just the rear ones and i need to know a few things. 1. Is it a dual circuit brake system, aka front and rear 2. Can I buy and bend my own lines from say, canadian tire? (flairing required too i know) 3. Whats the cost of having it done at mechanics? 4. can I buy pre-bent line?
yea i have a similar question i heard my alltrac brake lines are rusted out and hmm not drivable so where could i replace it or by performence ones for future refrences
nope you will be making your own. there are no prebent. for the whole car plan on spending near to 800.
me and my friend are gonna replace the lines this weekend. an buy pre flared lines from canadian tire. I don't think it will cost that much for lines do you? I only have to do the rear lines not the front, and im just gonna get regular crap lines
what about these: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brak...ica+GTS&autoYear=1987&autoModClar=&perfCode=S
Yep. Still gonna need those hardlines. I couldn't even begin to imagine the expense of doing the whole car in braided from front to back.
update: Found an awesome shop that I cant say enough good things about. They said $165 for it. while also being really friendly and honest
I ended up buying a kit for my gts. lol. I will let you know how they are if anyone wants to know. I am waiting till mid next week because I dont think they will even ship till monday. 8)
Ok, so I finally got those lines on. I had to wait over a month because stock ran out. Good news is I got them when they were still 70 bux so I still got the sale price. Pedal feels firmer and little more responsive, I only drove up the road but I thought for 70 bux they offered alot more braking feedback and much better feel than the old stock setup. Learned to bleed brake lines too. (wasnt hard though, I have been told how.) BTW, putting the stock clips back on the new lines sucked! It took forever, but granted one on my car was crushed up, it was still worth it. Ask me questions if you got them! I also put dot 4 brake fluid in for the higher boiling point.
