as the title says the brake light fuse blows randomly. somtimes they will work for awhile and othersit will blow 10 feet after puttin a new fuse in. any ideas??
somethings overloading the circuit, i would check all your bulbs its possible somethings drawing too much power. might try getting a volt meter and testing with that as well (not sure what you would test that as tho I would think 20v *on most voltmeters anyway*)
well first ensure you're using the right fuse, then check that the right bulbs are in all the sockets. when testing the voltage you want it as close to what you think you'll be getting, but slightly higher. ie you think you'll get 12 so set it to 20, not 10. also be sure you're in DC not AC, it's sad how often I've seen that one wrong.
We have the right fuse in there the reason they didn't work for so long was he put a bigger fuse in there and it blew the Light Failure box in the back .
well evan with the right fuse in it still overloaded the failure box but did not pop the fuse? i have another fuse box that im gonna put in. the thing is, is the only thing through out the whole car i have had problems with is the brake lights, the running lights have always worked along with all the other lights. and i have no idea where to start to look for a short in the wires or a bad ground?
try removing all your brake bulbs and see if it still blows the fuse. And take a look at the switch above your brake pedal...looke for loose/bare wires...corrosion etc... and check your ground for the brake lights....again look for corrosion etc
I had a similar problem with my brake light fuse blowing out. Maybe this thread will help: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ake+lights
