I have had an idea that I could fix the paint on my car, as in do the bit around the rear right wheelarch. I want to repair the dent, smooth out the panel and paint it, with cans, so at least it should look heaps better.

Which got me to thinking I want to go along where the pinstripes were, and maybe under the black body mouldings. I have a layer of paint missing under the pinstripes, wondering if i could smooth this are out, paint it then wetsand the whole panel and clear it and polish it again? And the colour might match ok? Basically along the car where the pinstripes were, in a line....

Short answer, no, it will look like crap.

    But you can try anyway!

Not with blue... Perhaps if your car was white, maybe.

mask and paint the entire panel (panel being an entire piece separated from the rest of the car by an opening or moulding...ie. door, fender, roof, hood)

or don't touch it at all

another option is to paint the entire bottom 6ish inches of the car with black rockerguard....it masks imperfections and crappy bodywork quite well because it is textured and it looks sharp if you mask off clean lines.

Hahaha. I can just do the whole panel, from Mephs recent work it should come out alright with cans....

But than the new paint will stand out from the old paint. If you do, just make sure you get the right colour.

Better to have one panel a different colour than half of a panel a different colour....although both will look kinda bad lol

Or roll the whole car with white brightside marine paint....

And spray can the door jams, interior, boot, backs of panels, engine bay etc.....

Would cost me nothing haha.........and turn out pretty good too, just have to practice 1st....

or a similar blue, with the same method....cant decide!

Interior? WTF, are you planning on making this a show car?

Though doing the engine bay is a massive PITA! Though would be a must for me if i was going to respray mine a different colour. Which is why i probably wont respray my car candy dark green like i have always wanted, and will have to go with dull burgundy, lol.

I wish mine was the colour of yours man...

By interior I mean under the carpets, above roof lining, behind trim panels etc. Wherever blue paint is now, would have to be white. Not my bloody interior trim lol. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. If i touch that, il do the lot black, dont want to just swap in a black interior coz i cant find good black stuff, and mine is all mint...

Id like to do either white, or the navy blue of the US flag, there both brightside paint colours. Not sure how the blue would look though, and I know it would be much harder to do, the white would be easy....

    LMFAO

    I knew what you ment!

Yeah, my colour isn't too bad, actually probably the second best stock colour ST162s come in. But its not candy dark green!

    Lol.

I get what you meant now. I just would want to sort out the details too. I would want the only sign the car was ever blue to be the colour code on the build plate.

All the 162 colours look great I think...
