barg. so i thought it wasnt that bad, but i got a can of air to blow the shredded bits out and its kinda bad. looks like i have maybe another 1/2 inch after the bad spot to thread into, but i dont think the bolts that long. new bolts on its way. this was just from taking the bolt out btw. used a 1/2" drive impact.

    -ideas?
    helicoil?
    tap?

    the culprit.

Try tapping the thread 1st and test with the new bolt
If not you'll have to helicoil

barg ? Thats definetly worthy of the expletive "FUCK" probably even "FUCK ME"
    Dam thats nasty...........

Like stig said try to tap it first and try to source a bolt 1/2" longer and a big washer, If tapping works I'd want some of the bolt threading
into the good 1/2" of thread that you have left.

With a crank like that, the 'F' word does seem appropriate here :lol

How about FUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK! lol. actually ive had a 4th gen long enough now that stuff like this doesnt suprize me. its down to "really?" but i can still usually manage to laugh it off. ive also convinced myself that the next time i open the block a set of 12.4:1 wossners are going in. its like the silver lining to any major malfunction.

-yeah i am wondering if its proper just to put a regular ole bolt in there? i dunno why the yota crank bolt somehow tricks my brain into thinking that something more specialized needs to be in there.

-just looked at it again. ive got 6 good threads after the messy bit. this is about 3/8ths of an inch. so currently a 2in bolt and 2 3/8ths to the bottom of the hole. its like they planned for it. ill see about gettin a tap tomorrow from work, i dont think ill get much strenght from the re-tapped part. think the next 6 would make it good?

Looking at those pics again I'd say that hole was drilled 1/2 way at some stage (why? wtf)
The 1st half looks way too smooth to have stripped, the rest couldn't take the torque.

Tapping won't help here, helicoil is the only option I'm afraid

The pistons are a baaad idea, last night I was forced to put in Shell (max 95 ron) and she's been rattling ever since - V Power my ass!
