Are the heater controls suppose to light up at night?

Hi, I've owned my 89 SX Liftback (Australian model) for 18 years and have always wondered whether the heater controls are suppose to light up at night time ? The a/c buttons light up but I'm wondering if there's suppose to be a light behind the plastic dial where the 2 heater controls slides, i.e. to light up the blue for cold air or red for hot air, and the directional symbols for blowing out the air.
Can anyway advise if their heater control panel lights up ?
    Thanks, Peter

Yes, it's supposed to light up. There is a small bulb behind it, size T5 or so.

this is nice to know... more reason that i should take my hvac controls out again and re-solder all points for the nth time...

Thanks Lone wolf, I'll be dammed if I can find the bulb though ! I had a look in a wrecking yard at a 86 model and I found the bulb in that but I couldn't see it in an 88 model they had, I'll have to go back and have a better look !

Thanks goingfinn ! That's a great post and I'm sure lots of people will benefit from it, I really appreciate all the effort you put into it with the photos and instructions. I'll give it a go this weekend to fix mine :)

    Thanks goingfinn !!

For the first time in 18 years I have a heater control panel that lights up :)

Was pretty easy after all, just a pain getting the light bulb back into place, but well worth the effort, it looks so much better.
