Just wanted to post some pictures of a Celica I found at a junkyard in Richmond, BC. I've never seen one of this colour combination and thought it was quite unique and would share it with the rest of you. Here it is: I think the gold(ish) exterior paint job, brown paint job, and black pin striping looks really cool; NEVER seen one like this and wouldn't mind to have one like it TBH. Probably noticed the rocker panel trim pieces (pieces below the doors); the good ones; well I was going to grab them but they wanted $150 for both sides. Every 4th gen. at this junkyard had them and almost all of them were in mint condition. Too bad they were expensive or else I would have grabbed a set for my car and my brother's '87 GT. Anyway, what do you guys think of this Celica? Like it? Hate it? It did look tons better in person though!
Looks like you made it to Ralph's on Mitchell Island - I told you they were expensive! My 86GTS has the skinny rocker covers too, they made them wider from 87 and up. I'm not a fan of that colour combination at all.
Yep, finally made it there; missed the dang turn off and ended up heading towards Delta... Yeah they were a lot more expensive then I thought and the owner was a total douche bag. Ah, so it's '87 and up. Yeah, I'm sure most will hate the colour combination; I dunno; I thought it was kinda cool. I know, I am weird. lol, my brother also hated the colour combination.
I get mixed service at Ralph's. Each time I had to buy something though, they were good to me in pricing and service. I think they get grumpy with guys always trying to lowball them - not an excuse, but I've observed it myself. It's almost like if they think you're not gonna buy, you're wasting their time. Too bad I had to work, we could've met up and talked shop. Maybe next time.
Yeah they were definitely a bit grumpy; before I talked to them I over heard a phone call with another customer and wow; how he was talking wasn't very friendly. Dang, yeah would have be awesome to meet up. Definitely would like to check out your Celica collection. Hopefully the meet at the end of the month works out.
That was my original colourscheme before I changed to a black interior I had it and found it really ugly afterwards (the interior I mean).
^Yes, the exterior is not that bad, but the interior colour is gross. I had a hard enough time adjusting to my pimp red interior
It's definitely a love it, hate it issue with the colour combo. But I agree it's very classy. I think having the gold exterior and a black interior would be pretty sweet, but I also wouldn't go out and re-paint my car.
Given the scrapyard is nearly 400km away, the only chance I would be heading down there soon is if the Celica meet down there goes through. That way I'll be in the area. Though I might head down there soon to visit my dad; haven't seen or talked to him since my Mom's funeral (just over a year ago), so yeah, probably should stay in touch. What were you needing/wanting? The scrapyards in Abbotsford/Chilliwack have a better selection; only about 250km away. lmk.
i dont think the white dials suite that interior! otherwise i love the mettalic brown but hate the brown inside
Looks like the same as mine, errr the way it used to be. It sure looks like the same brown-gold with a gray hue to it. Mine is now rattlecan black with a transforming into black/grey interior.
Check Ralphs in Abbotsford, guy only charged me $150 when i Stripped down an all-trac, and my car was full when i left (full Hatch, Back seats and some stuff on my wife's lap in the passenger seat) I would not go back to the Ralphs on scotts road in Surrey, guy over charged me, sold me broken parts and then wouldn't refund them. The Pick 'N' pull in Westbank (kelowna) would be closer to you, they always have a great price, and their cars are all raised on steel rims, so you can crawl under
Hmm, I went to Ralph's in Abbotsford a couple times but I swear they didn't have the different rocker trim pieces. I noticed them instantly at Ralph's Imports so I think I should have noticed them at Ralph's in Abbotsford; could be wrong though. I definitely should check out the one in Kelowna since it's close; lol, need money first though. lol, redrkt, I know you may have doubts on if they are real or not but when I took a close look at them you could clearly see how the paper was fading and started to wrinkle up as if there is moisture in there; but I'll let others confirm this as well  .
Note, if you're gonna replace your skinnies with the 87-89 wider rocker covers, you'll also need the 87-89 front mudflaps too - they were modified to accept the wider rockers. The 86 mudflaps won't take them.
