Hi everyone, My origin stereo after 21 years turned off, cassete doesn't work, and radio shows on the display but I can not hear any sound on the speakers, I don't know if this is a fuse or the radio just died. I would like to ask you for your help with how do I remove my stereo from the car, wich parts should I take first to remove it? Thanks a lot for your help, Hugo
You'll need to remove the shifter surround piece (where the center console is) and the radio bezel at a mininum. Then it's just a matter of screws and unplugging stuff.
It's probably a fuse. These diagrams tell you where the fuses are: manual/BodyElectrical/be%20011.jpg manual/BodyElectrical/be%20012.jpg
Thanks for your help, is there any screw that is fixing that shifter or is just a question of detach it? I don't want to break anything. I still have my book manual where says where the fuses are, thanks anyway but the fuses are ok, I just would like to recheck the conections behind the console to see if there any problem there, if it's really broken then I will have to buy a new one, along with the stereo columns that are already "burned".
stereo removal: middle plastic piece: 3 screws on each side along the whole thing. 2 screws inside the center console box. while you're lifting it, unplug the buttons from the bottom (power mirrors, cruise, power lumbar seats, etc.) the whole plastic thing just comes off. then the plastic surrounding the radio/A/C area: basically find every screw you can find, the hardest one to find is the two hiding (take off the ashtray) just a rule of thumb. if ANY plastic trim doesn't want to move, there's another screw somewhere you have to find. otherwise they just come loose easy.
