so i ordered a jdm 3sfe trans from foreign engines in lynnwood for my gts. The s53 in my car is grinding at mid to high rpm in 2nd gear and somtimes when redlining 2nd and going into 3rd, it can give a slight crunch, but 2nd gear is terrible. My question is, the gears seem fine, its smooth no noises just the syncros sound dead, can I rebuild the s53 so when the 3sfe trans goes, I can have a fresh transmission to toss in again or is it too far gone.

BTW, I got the 3sfe transmission for like 314 or 340 somthing shipped to my door tomorrow. Plus I got 12% off because my dad works at a shop that they deal with all the time. Same company I got my jdm 3sge from (it had a auto attached to it) and I have had no complaints from my motor.

When the new transmission gets here, I was going to put the light weight flywheel and new clutch from ultrarev.com on with the 3sfe transmission. I know the gears are shorter, but is it going to hold up???

btw, the s53 has 150k on it. I want to know if I should just toss it and get a new one when this goes.

gears are the same, final drive is shorter. i would just toss it in. they are cheap trannies. for a GE with an FE trans, you'll need a GE flywheel and a FE clutch disk with a GE pressure plate.

so I have the wrong clutch kit from ultra rev. I just went out and tried to see if the disk fit and it was too small, called them and found out my kit is for a nissan z car. So now I have to send that back, and I have YET to get the flywheel... dont order through them. Its been 1.5/2 months and I still dont have the right parts yet I have given them 750 bux. fuck that bull shit. I was ok with the flywheel fuck up, but now my clutch kit too? wth. I guess I will special request a fe disk with a ge flywheel and pressure plate. This sucks ballz...

I am painting and cleaning up the new transmission and noticed my little black plastic thing that connects the two shifter arms was missing, but it looks identical to my s53 transmission, so can I use my old one? will it fit.

Also, they left a half cut driver side half shaft, I hope there is a easy way to take it off, do I need a special tool, or is there a release of some kind? Its got those bolts tucked behind the boot that I cant get to.

bought a FE starter today... 150 bux =( but I get almost 60 back when I give them the starter in the car. so not too bad. Do I need new bolts for it to put it on the transmission? or do the s53 bolts identical?

I got the cv shaft out. What pain in the ass, just needed to get "poped" with the crow bar.

I figured a thread on a transmission swap is no good without some pictures.
