Hey guys I have a st162 89 3sfe sohc runs good at 300k beat up boddy . I also have just aquired a st162 89 3sge flawless body and interior with a spun main bearing. What I'm wanting to do is take the block from my 3sfe and drop it into the 3sge body with the 3sge dohc. I'm also wanting to prepara for a boost build just a few psi to park her up a bit. I'm set on this build I just would like to know a bit more information about the compatibility of the 3sfe 3sge block swap and what I should do to prepare for turbo ive heard that I need 3sgte pistons and rods that will surposedly bolt into my crank. Can someone educate my noob self please!!!

It could be done, but you'll save yourself a pile of time, money, and effort just buying a whole 3S-GTE motor and sticking it in. Just my $0.02.

I agree with Matt, above that it will run like a Swiss clock if you leave it standard.

    The blocks are the same?
Will 3sgte pistons and connecting rods fit my 3sfe block and crank?
What piston rings would you recommend?
What head gasket and copper coating should I use?
And what if anything will i need to run proper timing?

Okay so my game plan so far
    Rebuild 3sfe block
    Use 89 3sgte pistons
    Questions about block:
Will 3sgte rods fit my 3sfe crank?
If not what rods should I use to go with my 3sgte pistons and 3sfe crank.
Looking for some recimented piston rings and crank bearings for boosted application any rcomendation?
Also need to confirm a headgasket that will fit the 3sge head and 3sfe block?
Wiich arp head studs for a 3sfe or a 3sge or a 3sgte be recommended.
Will I need to change up my ecu as I plan on getting the build to turn over and run before I apply the turbo?

    *Rods will fit
    *Pistons will come with rings
*Talk to your engine builder about the appropriate bearings
*No idea on the head gasket, I'd start by pulling the heads off both motors and seing if the gaskets are the same. If not, your build either just came unstuck or just got a lot more expensive.
*ARP only make a stud kit for the GTE. I can't imagine why it wouldn't fit all 3S motors, but you had best ask ARP
*You're going to need a new ECU at some point anyway, you may as well have it installed when the motor is ready to run. Besides, the factory 3SFE ECU is not going to like the lower compression and bigger fuel pump and injectors you'll be running.

All of that aside, I stand by my original answer.
