Your 3mm spacers are the slip-on type and just go over your standard hub bolts. 25mm spacers are bolt-on, they use your original bolts to secure the spacers to the hubs, and have new bolts protruding from the spacer to bolt the wheels onto. It should probably be noted at this point that neither type is legal for road use in Australia.
Looks like I hace been decieved by the OZZY Tyre Company as they stated over the phone that the 3mm spacers are legal and they have previously recommended and done some hitting of the cap with 2 hammers to make more room, which I believe is not good structurally. Thanks Matt
you shouldn't have the stress on the lugs at all due to wideness. i don't know how it works with spacers, but it should be all resting on the hub bore
Sry for the late reply....yes marc i had to roll the fronts more....yes my spacers are bolt on...i wouldnt trust slip ons....ill seeis i can find a pic with them on to give u an example.

The inner nuts bolt to your existing studs Note these have conical nuts which fit into the spacer, most a/m rims will require you to switch to outer conical nuts too as the Toyota type are designed to go into the bolt holes and won't work with normal rims, giving you only a few threads which is also dangerous There are many spacers available which don't have a lip - THEY ARE DANGEROUS! as 1) the bolts do all the work 2) the bolts will eventually snap They are available resembling the bolt-ons shown above or as slip-on's like these - they are illegal and dangerous Be careful what you buy and check you have the right nuts to match your rims!, the threads on Subaru etc are different too - be careful
heres a look at my car without spacers on the rear. old pic i know....ive been running these sam,e spacers without problems for over 3 years.. with spacers on and here are the spacers themselves bolt on type at 25mm in thickness
187, What size tyres and rims are you running? Do you know the offset of the rims? I am assuming that you have good shocks and springs on the car, so the front tyres don't scrub on the guard. Are your 25mm legal, I am guessing not. And do they make the rear track wider than the front? Ive heard this becomes a problem with handling. I am mainly after the optimal tyre and rim size for best handling, as well as the best suspension setup. The motor and gearbox will come later. These scuff marks were caused without using spacers, the chalk mark in the second picture is with a 3mm flat spacer on with the wheel off the ground and spun by hand. After reading your thoughts about the flat spacers with no lip I really don't want to use them.
Would spacers like the 25mm ones here work in my situation. Assume they are illegal. Would they affect handling having the rears wider than the front.
So the way im running now is 205/40/17 in front without spacers 205/45/17 in re ar with 25mm spacers... my front has blown shocks and cut springs... my rears r stock height. The offset is +42 right now When i buy new wheels this will be my set up....205/45/16 in front with rim offset at +37....my rears will be 215/45/16 with an offset of +14. Sithout the use of spacers
