Man I feel for ya...

Box is a ST165 converted unit.
New part looks like S53 lsd compared to the original E lsd.
Original looks OK apart from the outer edge, can't they just chamfer it?

Only other suggestion is I know of a MR2 box here for $150, I could buy it and strip it for ya but you'll need the shafts as well (which he has).
Diff + shafts is pretty heavy but.... try freight maybe? Probably easier to find one over there

Reverse looks good compared to some I have here, this is why it's important to let a box slow down 1st before trying to ram it into reverse (there are no synchro's on reverse)

Original owner is a dufus - I doubt he even knows what is inside and probably bought it from somebody else.

Did you manage to find any of the synchro's?

Yeah I'll take that damaged diff gear to a machinist and see what they can do with it. I'm surprised its an ST165 box, I doubt there are more than 50 in the country, much less spares for them.. you're probably right about its previous owner, it would explain how he knew so little about it. Thanks for the offer on the MR2 box, shipping would be frightening though. The wrecker 5 minutes down the road from me sells gearboxes for about $160, I'll just wait until they've got a couple of ST204's in stock and go pull the boxes from them, try and make one good one.

I could strip one for you and send the parts you need
I'd send mine but already know the diff is damaged

If you chamfered that hub and the shaft splines I don't see why you'd need to replace it and would concentrate on replacing the syncro's and spacers

Thanks for the offer, but I'll try and source what I need locally. I might hit you up if all parts here turn out to be extinct though :)

Not much to update, just some recent purchases;

Innovate Motorsport gauges. L-R: Oil pressure/temperature, water temperature/battery voltage, air-fuel ratio.

Speedo and tacho still to come, but these will all be housed within the factory instrument binnacle on a custom mounting panel.

Also, my long (L-O-N-G) awaited valve springs finally arrived. They're from GSC Power Division, who tell me "they will set up at 74lb @ 1.354” and 200lbs at 11mm lift". I think that's good? Retainers are titanium. Also got some valve stem seals from them and, most importantly, a T-shirt and some stickers :cool: . No collets for the valves though, will have to source a set from.... somewhere...

That's all for now. One day I hope to actually put all of this stuff in the car :eek:
