Definitely a result..looking at what they go for on eBay though they dont come up in our ET and sizes that much .Be a while before they go on the car though,ive done refurbs on wheels myself and its a pain in the ass.So ill look to get them done professionally but that costs money :scratch
Right well not a lot has happened to the car over winter...ive sourced a few handy spares and such but I haven't done any mods yet...hopefully the British weather will behave and I can actually get on with some things.I thought id pop those OZ wheels on as they are to see what they look like,the white 5 spokes get shitty as hell in winter anyway and as im planning on refurbing the OZs when funds allow,i didn't think itd do any harm to stick them on for a while. Apologies the car hadn't been washed,let alone polished LOL
i hear you now on the white rims....i cant get 5 minutes from the carwash without having dirty rims.....i have to scrub them and hand wax so its a little easier...nice rims
Ha yeah mate,awesome the white rims,but get dirty VERY quick....still thinking of doing these OZs white though,i must be mad,even worse cleaning multispokes...!:crazy
They look nice! Are you missing those black strips underneath the doorstrips that run across the side of the car? Sorry if it's not understandable, I have trouble finding the right English word for those strips
No I know what you mean,and the answer is yes,i removed the long trims as water had got into them and they had started to rot inside...so I took them off and filled the holes where the clips were.I prefer the look,its cleaner and as they are rust traps im glad I did really.
It's only noticable to the train eyed. I wonder if they were there just to complete the look of the mudguards.
Had a trip to the coast to meet up with couple of friends,gave the car a good polish and she came up nice.You can see where I took off the sill trim strips and mudflaps quite well in these pics The OZ wheels come up nice,theyre in very decent condition.Opinion is till divided,some like them a lot,others prefer the white 5 spokes...I kinda like both depending on my mood,though I do think the white ones give a more retro track look,these are a bit more 'modern' but they do suit the car ok. I have a small leak from where the oil pipes bolt onto the oil cooler,i think its the cooler rather than the pipe fittings so im going to replace the cooler as I have a spare that looks in good condition from the old donor car.I replaced the rubber pipes at the other end and that's all fine.I don't have oil dripping on the drive but there is a 'weep' of oil from the metal collars and the pipe wont do up any more,so ill look into that soon.Other than that all seems good,the starter has stuck a couple of times last two months (typically after I replaced all the manifold gaskets etc ) so at some point ill have to have that out and checked,again I do have a spare so I might get that refurbed and then bung it straight in.I will also look into doing the electrical upgrade as well as I know the old wiring causes starting issues on our cars,cant hurt.
Well although the rest of the car is looking good,the roof is still pink to be honest,it needs a respray.So its going into the bodyshop Thursday.I'm having the windscreen removed again,as theres some rust creeping out from under the top of the rubber seal across the top of the screen (UK wet weather for you).I had treated it myself when I originally had the screen out first time,but this time ill have it done professionally by the restorers.So once the screens out they'll do all the rust work in the surround,prepare and repaint the roof and A pillars,also I have the mint sunroof panel which was originally from Trinity ,so ill take that along and theyre going to paint that with the same batch of Super Red so if I decide to put that one in later,instead of my black vinyl wrapped one she wears at the moment,then I know the paint match will be perfect.Ongoing project as always! well I know you like pics so got some more if you would like to see. I met up with a friend who works for Jaguar tonight...he brought along the very latest F type convertible 'S', 380BHP so we went for a ride in it....awesome.very light and nimble compared to previous Jags,(felt it anyway),and doesn't feel 'wallowy' for a vert either.380BHP,very nice. Only a crappy phone pic though im afraid Great ride,and he really does know how to drive it too TBH.Hes just come back from Portugal thrashing them around Estoril.Nice work if you can get it.... Anyway back to a proper car,gen4 Celica :lol: I didn't take this pics,a friend did.Rather good I thought And sunshine too!Almost forgot what the f***ng sun looks like to be honest.Nice to get out and about!

Thanks Matt,i painted the calpipers a while back but these wheels seem to show them off a bit better than the white 5 spokes do.And it helps having someone who can work a camera too,he does make the car look slightly better than real life it think!Who said the camera never lies! Steve,i have a way to go to get near yours LOL.You can never ever beat originality,my car has a lot of paintwork done ,yours is far more original and 'genuine' than my car will ever be.but then again,when I started this project I realised quickly that she would never be a concours car ,so ive done my best and gone my own way with her,so in that respect she is turning slowly into the car I wanted her to be.She does have a personality,she has her little bits and nicks here and there but to owna road going gen4 that causes people to look twice is a buzz for me for sure! They're hard work at times but so underrated
Okey dokey,i finally got the roof painted,windscreen removed,and the flush rubber trim reinstated so its all nice and flush again;and rust free underneath of course!Then all put back together to look like this Took along Trinity's sunroof panel,and they repainted that in the same batch of red paint so itll match up nicely when I put it back in and take out the black vinyl wrapped one.I kind of like the contrast of the black roof panel against the red but it'll be nice to get the mint condition red one back on again I think the rubber seal is all good,just got to clean it up and give it a touch of Autoglym tyre dressing to get it looking nice and 'new' again
