so was going 65mph and i heard some rattle and noticed that my front hood was shaking then popped like when you pulled the latch release inside the car. luckily the hood didnt come off flying. this is the second time it happened. any thoughts on how i can resolve this? i cannot be driving 45mph forever.

How does the latch and look and the cables? Maybe you could grease those parts up a bit, does your hood latch and lock?

    :lachtotgreat post lol.

i would check if the two rubber things holding your hood UP (behind your headlights) keep the hood stiff against the latch too

yep, this is probably one cause why my hood is rattling on high speeds.. unfrotunately, the rubber wont't twist... i think the bolts are seized...

yes the hood still latches but i guess because the hood has a play the latch eventually will give??? the springs do still have tension but has some surface rust so i will try to clean then lube it up...

The rubber parts may be all worn out. You won't believe how much difference is in looks between a 20 year old a new one. I didn't believe until I saw either.

is the part still available somewhere or is there another type or kind we can use for our car?

Just order you some of these, some may call them ricer, but if they are actually keeping your hood from popping then it's worth every penny. I have run them on every racecar and some street cars that I've owned...

And this is how they look on the car....

I would try the oem way before cutting holes in my hood, if I were you...
you can order them from Toyota, I can help you out with part number if you cannot find it.

Sorry for even suggesting cutting holes, it's just the racer in me and the fact I have several extra hoods lying around!!
