^Yeah, I'm glad the swap got done too. I'm just trying to figure out exactly what he has.

I'm the friend who helped with this swap. The engine we found in the car was supposed to be a 3SFE out of a US camry, 1991 vintage. The "new" engine is a JDM 3SFE 2.0 that we picked up from a distributor in Atlanta. It had the original plug wires on it with a 1995 date code. The transmission is a '96 US Camry unit, J says he likes the longer legs over the worn out (270k) Celica transmission. The trans cases were identical outside. The pictures are in perfect sequence, we ended up changing over ALL the accessories to suit the earlier Celica EFI and emissions components. Unfortunately, the JDM valve cover would not fit under the Celica intake manifold. The EGR ports are all cast inside the head on the US and JDM motors, as far as I can see. The JDM engine has the EGR port closed with a plug, we simply threaded the US EGR pipe into the same port in the head. I would have loved to use the low miles injectors, but we're still researching whether they'll work with the older PCM.

No. the only time i said 5s was when i was referring to the USDM only having the 5s by 1995 (but my new motor is JDM)
The cam cover said 2000 and the timing belt cover says 3s.

'91 3s injectors from the old motor. I had to swap the fuel rail and everything.

If this is true then i have an EGR valve threaded into some mysterious hole in the head that had a plug threaded into it. :sad

If it IS only a 2.0L like it said on the cam cover, (2000 and not 2200) then my exhaust should be fine right?

My bad, Over here there is NO Camry with 3S, there is no MR2 or ST182 with 3S either - all are 5S. Post 1990 JDM ALL 3S/4S were used only in Corona's, Curren's, Carina's, Lucida's

Easy to swap around, I presumed they swapped it when they swapped as like you say the manifold doesn't fit the later covers

Stock JDM's are light blue 220cc, they are too small for EGR, so I'd still like to know which ones you have fitted.
Im also looking for 5S stock injectors if anyone has

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought that was a spare engine hanger hole. I found this pic of an imported 5S which shows a different manifold and the EGR setup

The 3S exhaust isn't fit to use as a boat anchor and they are starting to crack up. Read my thread for alternatives and opening the door to some real power/torque

Ok so these are the injectors on the car now. They are swapped over from the old engine(1991 USDM camry 3s-fe)
    the color is grey? blue?

This is the old engine: notice less ribs on the head:

And this is the new engine; more ribs on the head:

So how do I identify exactly what this is?

Interesting injectors, I'd like to know the p/n for those

The yellows are too small for EGR, so you did the right thing. If you disable the EGR you must put them back in

My guess is you have a 90-95 motor, look where the box meets the block, just below the waterpipes it will say 3S/4S/5S etc

unfortunately the stock 3sfe exhaust manifold is a big bottleneck already. even putting in the stock 3sge oem exhaust of any kind is a big upgrade. ultimately, you want to get the st202 3sge (non-beams) exhaust to make the best out of the 3sfe that you have (or any 3sfe for that matter)

^I have the aforementioned stock manifold and I'm not sure that it would fit the earlier F head. I kinda doubt it, actually.

    What's the difference?

I thought the stud pattern was slightly different.... I guess it's not??? If it does, that's great. That's just another avenue for me to unload this part.....
