So i had a while to spare today and i finished off stitch welding the front of the car... Now onto the engine bay and wheel well's! And this is how my mig welding turns out, take into consideration there was no sandblasting and the panel wasnt spotless either bit i have to say im doing a pretty decent job tidy wise. :smug
fernando , thats exactly the same one as mine... So today i started on the inside on the drivers side, and i got the sealant striped off and the seams stich welded up, i can really start to feel the panels getting stiffer , and there's a higher pitch when you tap other panels which shows its working and getting tight.
Looks wont matter jon because it will be covered with sealer! I didnt know your going to do it aswell! go for it! would be really stiff with the full chassis done!
So i can now actually use my air compressor! i bought the fittings, and a 15 meter airline as-well. I also got a Tyre pump A blow gun And a HVLP spray gun, a fairly good one! so im happy, this is my first spray gun! i can also paint water-based paint now as-well There was a few other bits and pieces but nothing really worth talking about
HVLP is your best bet I would say as well if you got a small compressor Carlos SATA is my way of thing's with a 1.3 nozzle HVLP stand's for High Volume Low Pressure if the compressor is the same as Sean's one you can look into HVHP type of gun as well.
So i was in the auto dealer today and i spotted an impact gun and i just said "fuck it, may aswell" So now i have a 1/2 inch impact gun to help me along with jobs and save my back! happy days. EDIT: I also got some kerosene and coated my engine bay, As the kerosene was going on the oil fromt he engine bay was almost falling off! Result! so i left ig on until tommorrow and it will soak in and hopefully the engine will be very clean when i give it a rub tommorrow evening.
So i had some time today to do a bit more work on the car, i started off by stripping the seam sealer around the shocks , this stuff is very time consuming to remove to a spec were you can get a good weld at it. so i stripped it off the 2 of them. And then i continued to weld around the struts, this made the biggest difference to the chassis so far, it stiffened it up so much on the panels that the tone of the panels when struck all changed across the front engine bay so its going a success so far! I know your probably all getting bored of just seeing welding pictures so heres a dog on a bike. But on a more serious note, Soon there will be change! im over 50% of the welding done on the stitch welded engine bay, if you dont wanna see more just tell me! :razz
