( Preparing to put my flame suit on...) :D

Yes I know it is illegal and very dangerous but is there a time when you just had to do it to kick someones butt who thought they were all that?

The time I street raced and kicked the guys butt happened like this.....

I was crossing the bridge going from the South shore to the North shore and I could see some guy behind me zipping through the cars so I obviously blocked him in a bit so he couldn't pass. We get to a set of lights and he pulls up beside me. He was driving a Mazda MX-6. Full body kit, fart can, gauges along the pillar, nice rims etc. When the light turned green he floored it and ripped by me - I had no plan in racing him so I just took off at a normal speed. When we got to the next set of lights he looked at me and smiled - guessing he was very proud for beating someone who wasn't even racing. So with me I hate being showed up by some punk who thinks they're tough shit; therefore when the light turned green I was all for racing this dummy. Once the light turned green I floored it, the tires didn't spin; it hooked up very nicely. It shifted quite hard into second (terrible tranny) but I did the best I could to not grind the gears too much. I continued down the street with him falling quite far behind. I then zipped through the cars in front of me and as I looked back he was no where to be seen.

It was a good feeling that I kicked that guys ass in my $200, 22 years old celica, with a terrible tranny. I don't normally race; only when some idiot is asking for a woopin'

Again I know it's illegal and dangerous but I just had too.

Any times where you guys had a similar experience?

p.s HAHA I have another time when I pissed this BC Hydro guy off but I'll only tell it if you guys wanna hear it.

when i was younger i was into that, goingt out in all hours of the night racing anything known. but i guess with age you realize throwing your life away is not worth some idiot in a riced up cavalier. not to say im any better, for example: the first thing i will probably do with my car is just dump the clutch and see if it goes bang, btu not on the street. but idno maybe im just rambling here. . . the thing about ricers and idiots, is they know there cars suck, and they think a crappy tire air filter puts them in the skyline leauge. so then they pull up beside everyone, with there homley ghetto girl in tow. and they try to look cool. and they egg on people to "drag" to the next light. and thats when shit gets crashed... and people get killed... all because some idiot wanted to feel cool...

^ Yeah I know what you're saying. I only race someone if they're the one who wants to race me. I don't pull up to someone and start revving my engine etc. and try to get someone to race.

even if they pulled up to me, i would just laugh, cause i know my car (the complete vers. in my head) could destroy his cavalier, and all it does is prove your faster than some idiot. but no better than that idiot. . . its meaningless in my mind. jesus im starting to feel like the mod vers of dr phil...lmao....

I only "street race" against my buddy Doug, because we know our limits and each others limits. It's not really racing, just bombing down empty back roads trying to lose one another (the distinction makes sense in my head).

as bad as it sounds i only street race cars i think might win. modded sti's, evo's. srt4's, vettes, vipers, ect.
and only in a deserted area. and never set races, i hate those.

I think it's in the male gene's to win....so I think we've all put the pedal the floor to kick some guys ass that was beside us at one point or another. I was always safe about it...if it was in the city I would race up to 60km/h....at that point it's usually clear who is winning, if the guy wants to be a douche and keep going I let them, they'll get the ticket.... I never killed anyone or got in an accident and I did it plenty of times.... Something we probably all do I think.

Yeah that is a really smart idea; well, less dumb I guess.

At first I thought the MX-6 would win but in the end he was all show but no go; also it's funny because he probably put a lot of money into the car and I got my car for $200 and kicked his ass, so yeah, it feels good.

Mafix has a fairly similar view to mine, if im gonna race and possibly get a ticket it had better be some bad ass ride. Theres a couple evos where i live and a few STIs. All the SRT4's here are a joke, riced out with some dumbass kid driving em. But if see another goddamn Lancer OZ rally edition that some kid thinks is a rally car im gonna freak out. These kids need to learn what a RALLY car is.

The worst thing over here for me is not the wanna be rally car drivers in their scoobies and Evos, I can handle them, I just let them do there own thing, there is way too much CCTV and heat around for playing anyhow. Nor do the guys and girls in there 1.0 super dooper hatches worry me, I always let them race off, in a very small clouda tyre smoke, thinking "I haz had a race car," because, its makes me laugh, and second, I was a kid once, and it aint fun being shown the difference between 70 bhp and 270bhp :D

No the worst guys by far for me are the tossers in BMWs and Audis, normally diesels, who think that they own the road, that they have a god given right to drive like muppets, and that licences are given away at the Kwickie Mart.

They think "well thats a 20 year old heap o crap" and sit mms from my back bumper, everytime, I come across one of these oafs, there are either boys in blue, or so many cars, that it would just be stupid to race so I let em go.

But one day next summer, I am going hunting, with my R888s on, and I am going to bring me back a whole loada these idiots scalps as a 20 year old mini cab blasts them away.

aside from going a few of my mates off the lights (we dont really puch it that hard)
iv only ever raced one dipshit in a similar fashion to 86celica
some dipshit in a commodore had been riding my ass for ages and had his high beams on aswell which is reason enough to wanna hurt him. Anyway hed been riding my ass and darting in and out like a dipshit, he lined me up at the lights and reved its guts out. knowing that hes got an extra 4 cylinders theres no way i was gunna bother. He screeched off i did nothing, we pull up at the next set and he starts doing standstills and yelling shit at me like "c'mon" and "dont be a pussy" so i thought fuck this shit.
killed him of the start (he had way to much wheel spin) naturally he was coming up on me after that and the dipshit grabbed 5th instead of 3rd bahahaha
at the next set of lights he slotted in behind me

    I love reading this thread,

I've made a post a while back about driving late at night, in the fog and how much I love it ha ha..

but once in a while there's a guy in some riced out import that of coarse, thinks he's all that. I don't usually race. Especially if they smile and rev. But... I did race this one dude in an Honda, looked like an 88 - 89 accord all fixed up with rims etc...or something... but apparently had a V-Tech engine in it... he was a customer at my friends work who had some work done to his car, so he told me what was under the hood. I thought whopie an '88 Honda... buddy turned and smiled, revved his engine. My friend told me not to race him because it was a busy area, and he would race me to the end cause the guy was an idiot. SO I raced him from one block to the other block, and i'm pretty sure I won (forgive my racing ignorance) but he was apparently switching gears without the clutch and was accelerating really fast, I booked it past him eventually, eventually meaning like 3 sec later... kind of a lame story, but...

I learned nothing from my experience, except that I want to learn how to shift like that in a car that rocks =D

Same really. I like to make people look like morons when they're all high on themselves and think their car is the best.

Also, how do you shift without the clutch...it can't be good for the tranny can it?

Guys correct me if im wrong, and I probobly am. Is theres a better, safer way to do it? Or would you reccomend not doing it at all?

I shift to about 4k rpm, let go of the acceleration when it hits about 3.5k rpm the shifter will shift into the next gear with no force and if you do it fast enough it wount grind... i was doing it for a little while, shifting up and down using this technique, but i grinded it a few times and now my third gear grinds a tad even when i use the clutch, unless I time it right it wount grind at all. I prolly nicked a gear or something in my tranny. Other than that the car is just fine to drive. I was shifting like that for about a month or so. And of coarse, I use the clutch to start and stop =D

jake to run your car the right way:
launch at 2K rpm, just put her into first, rev to 2K, dump the clutch
here is the hard part***never move you foot off the gas pedal until you are done racing***
when you shift you'll want to be around 6K rpm and just kick and shift
kick*literally kick the clutch pedal. all it does is very quickly relieve some of the pressure against the disk so you don't tear up the gears*
shift*and when i say that, you cannot miss or you're done, you have to be able to get from one gear to the next very fast*
practice makes perfect but start out slow
it took me a long time to figure that out on the 3sfe engine.

you raced...with a 3sfe? god wouldn't it have been easier to just bend over? ;) j/k i know the fe has power, i just don't know where. hahahaha

the fe doesn't have a lot of power. so you reduce the weight of the vehicle.
