hanging it upside will overheat it though...

are you basing that on heat rising? all sub's have heatsync's built into their cases...the heat get's distrubuted relatively even so you shouldn't ever run into an amp overheating because you hung it upside down...

where did you hear that from anyway?

it was in the manual that came with my amp...same warning on a sticker on my buddies amp...I figured it was because of the design of the casing, or maybe that because it was upside down it was probably mounted to something that wouldn't leave room for the heat to go up? I dunno.

edit: all the info I used was either from people on here or from manufacturers info.

you can mount amps any direction and they should be fine as long as:
they are not liquid cooled (yes they exsist)
unless noted due to internal fans that may become unbalanced

Quick question guys i already did my set up dont like how it sounds well it sounds good with hip hop but i am more ofa reggae listener so i wanna change from a single 12 that i have to a single or double 10 i wanna upgrade the amp and the sub when u said that u only need to change your battery or alternator when u are running over 800 watss of power do you mean the max power or the rms cause alot of these amps are like 800 watts maxx and then u get like say 360 rms hit me up let me know thanks
    kerry .. :(

you aren't drawing near enough power to justify a better battery or alternator. You'll be fine with what you have

dont even look at the stupid max numbers... follow rms

but ya im running 1600 RMS and dont have an upgraded battery or alternator (70 amp sotcker haha). and thats just daily driving :D. 2 10s is all youll ever need ;)

Im running 2 10" Kicker L5 subs and an 1600 watt audiobahn amp. That has cooling fan. Traded the 15" Kicker L7 for the two. I like them alot better.

I looking at getting another one soon, but intsead of a L7, I'm thinking bout upgrading to either the 12" Kicker Solo X which has 5000 watt rms and a 10000 watt peak or a 15" MTX T9500 which has 1000 watt rms and a unknown peak. heard they have held up to 5000 watts so far what do you think? You no me I love the bass.

as for this whole peak thing. IF ANYONE MENTIONS PEAK EVER AGAIN THEY ARE BANNED FROM 4GC THANKS ;x its just a number they throw out there...

for example if it really WAS the peak then id have no subs... mine are 300rms500max im putting 800 for each so 300 over peak. oh and for competition about 1200-1500 each and of course its at full output...sooo ya i hate you all...but you wont be banned haha

my deck has seperate controls for the front/rear/sub, so I can tweak it the way I like it so it all sounds right. and my amp has it's very own db and gain control box.

preferably only use amp gains to match ;x decks are nice for high and lopass if ur amp doesnt have any crossovers

  19. underscore

    underscore Well-Known Member

yeah I only boost the gain a little bit, and I use the amps filters. it was great when I got the control though! the guy that originally bought it kept it when he returned the amp, so I was stuck with the DB boost set on his last setting, which sucked. I still have to mount it properly at some point.

lol any bass boost on my amp would sound so bad as it boosts where my box peaks pretty much ha
