I mean..i could pick up a manifold on ebay for less than 2 bills...
If i look, i could find a ct26 for cheap too..

How hard is it run a simple, say 3-5 lbs of boost on a n/a first gen 3sge?

    yay free time...
ok bolting everything up and mechanically making things work isn't a big deal.
electronics is where you'll have a big issue. i don't know if you can just simply use a GTE ecu or if you'll have to go stand alone. i know your stock computer shouldn't* work. now you can get all the parts you'll need from a GTE engine: injectors, exhaust manifold, turbo, feed and return lines, oil pan, associated other parts, like radiator if you use 1st gen parts.

you'll need to go front mount as well and do exhaust again...at least in the front. ie. downpipe. intake and fuel pump as well.

i know these ECU's will work: hydra nemesys, autotronic smt-6, megasquirt, AEM universal, motec 800, there are others but that's off the top of my head

Anyone who knows about my saga from the last board on Turbo'n a 3SGE will tell ya. Just do the swap. If I knew now what I knew then, I would have just done a swap. But oh no...I had to be F****** different.

Meanwhile, I had to pull my JDM 3SGE which ended up having a bad piston and Im doing a swap now. On the bright side I have a ton of nice after market parts to put on the swap motor.

I havent decided yet. Probably 2nd gen. That seems to be the norm and easiest. My biggest concern is my tranny. I dont know if want to try and tackle the MR2 tranny swap or not. Im just afraid that Ill tear up a GT tranny. I modified my tranny to flip the starter around, but Im just at a loss. I just want to drive my damn car this summer....

yeah....there is so much involved. Just do the swap. Unless you really have money to burn on absolutely nothing. I wrenched on my car for two summers...and im still ending up doing the swap...

experience is the key. where one of us gets burned, others save.
i modded the hell out of the FE only to blow it up. (didn't boost it though, not a complete numbskull)
