Hey guys this is my 1989 celica bought the car as a cheap runabout, the motor was rebuilt 15k ago by a toymods member. catback exhaust tint alarm with immoboliser Have owned the car 3 weeks and so far replaced *both rear wheel cylinders *both outer c.v. boots *changed all fluids *replaced all vacuum lines with more durable silicon hose *changed the steering wheel *slowly in the works of spray painting a rust free tailgate and a replaced the rocker cover gaskets *swapped the st rev counter with the sx rev counter *Sandblasted new rocker covers and manifold. My future plans are to continue to clean the car up the list includes *4-2-1 headers w/high flow cat *twin tip muffler *enkei 92 15x7 *vacuum gauge - so i know if tvis is working *a/f ratio gauge *coilovers *paint rocker covers red *rear sway bar upgrade and new sway bar links *and anything else that will clean up the car. Hi, welcome to our little corner of the internet Nice looking car, so it's an ST that someone has swapped a 3S-GE motor into? Innovate Motorsports do a nice AFR guage, comes with the wideband O2 sensor for about $190, I think they do a vacuum gauge too, though you don't really need one to tell if TVIS is working. I found a link the other day on how to test the system, I'll see if I can dig it up for you. Cheers, Matt edit -here's that link - http://www.st162.net/forum/showthread.php?1902-T-Vis-Tested-(Fail)
thanks guys I've got my eye on an aem one for $130 yes its an st as for the vacuum gauge, I'll swap the vacuum accumulator with a smaller one then run a t peice as using a gauge will delay the opening of butterflys as for the wheels i hate them. Also wont be going crazy with mods on this car as i have a corolla sx im building from scratch
Hey guys just an update on the car over the past few months i have been working on the car every spare moment i got *made a parcel shelf for my 6x9's *overhauled the cooling system *replaced every hose i could with silicon *port matched my manifolds to the cylinder head *made a cold air intake and custom box *gave everything in the engine bay a new coat of paint *installed coilovers *new exhaust *fog lights and a few other little bits and peices
Looks great! What spring rates did you get? And who did that alignment? 5mm of toe-in on the rear is a bit excessive haha
Thanks I got 8/8 but kept spinning out so went to 6/6 and heaps better As for the alignment I did it It's in the green so must be at factory specs Needs another wheel alignments as I'm replacing my bushes Will run neg 2 degree camber on front with 1mm toe in Neg 1 degree with 1mm toe in on rear then sway bars are on the to do list
6/6 is what I got for my BC Racing coilovers, I'm yet to drive my car though I'd make the front toe 2-3mm in to compensate for the negative camber, and about the same for the rear.
We only work a few blocks apart then, I'm on the corner of Parramatta and Shaftsbury Road. Saw you on Railway Parade, about 6:30 I think. I was driving one of our company cars, blue and white Volvo, looks a bit like this: :lachtot
6/6 is perfect but not sure how they would handle stiffer sway bars Will take that into consideration when I get some hoist time I was not expecting a bus haha
It pays the bills They're surprisingly good fun to drive, the new ones go pretty well and you can hook them into corners harder than you'd think (when there are no passengers on board of course )
