    Hum,... I didn't find it.
It seems that here, in Europe, the starter relay is not there. :?
    Another location on 1987 celica?

Does someone know the Toyota reference # of this relay?

Yeah, its bolted to the side of the ECU under the ashtray

    Toyota p/n - 85910-30050, ND p/n - 061000-0350/1

The black wire is the starter on wire

Interested to know your ECU p/n?

I found it in this Toyota wiring diagram :

It's referenced as : "Relay assembly, circuit opening for E.F.I"
    Toyota p/n 85910-30050 (85910A on wiring diagram)

Anyway, I told all this to my mechanic. He'll try to find the problem.

    Thank you for all, Kevin.

    You cheated! ack2
I had to follow the starter wire with a multimeter and a spare harness to find it.

It looks like it also controls power to many other circuits, I have some spare (hence the 2 p/n's).
Sorry - I thought you only got Auto in France for a while crazy - banged my head T00 many times
I'm not sure but I think some cars have a clutch pedal switch as well - mine don't
