Ignition troubles, mainly spark

It cranks but nothing happens, here's a list of what i've checked:

-started with a spark plug set near the body, no spark
-pulled the wire going to the distributor from the coil and held it near the body, no spark
-checked the ignition coil, works perfectly

Does this mean it's the igniter? Going by what the book says, thats the only thing I can figure. Unless its a bad ECU?

How does the cap & rotor look or maybe the plug wires?
Personally I'd replace all the above anyway if you haven't done that yet.

The wires and the cap look fine, I'll take it out and see what the rotor looks like. I should replace the ignition coil and all that even if they checked out fine?

or the dizzy, the coil relys on pulses being send back from the dizzy to spark

Could be the coil even if it checked out fine? Interesting!
I'll take everything out and give it a once over and if it all looks fine I'll try replacing some parts.

The rotor has to make good contact with the points on the cap. If either the rotor or cap is too worn, it's no good. Keep us posted :cheers

Today I went over all the wires and found that one of the connectors on the wire that goes from the distributor cap to the ignition coil wasnt crimped on anymore, it just fell out! I tried cutting away the rubber and re-crimping it, but nothing happened. None of the stores I went to today had the correct spark wire sets, so hopefully another store will.

Really hope this is the problem :fingersx

you dont have to get a complete set, they will be able to sell you any generic coil lead for bugger all. or if your desperate just hit up nick-a-part

Nobody carried the leads with the plugs in them, only the ones that snap onto the distributor. Extremely unhelpful.
And yes, pick n pull might have to be an option if nobody has a wire for me.

wait do you mean its a spark plug lead (1 of 4) or do you mean the lead between the distributor and the coil (mounted on the strut brace)

The lead between the distributor and coil.

Take it to the store with you - most auto stores sell them loose for $10 or so

I did, and nobody had the correct type. I'm going to go to some other stores tomorrow and see if they have them

Welp, it wasnt the distributor wire or the ignition coil. Guess i'm taking it to the shop now.
