I was searching for an 86 Toyota mr2 turbo, or 89 7m supra on craigslist and the previous owner of my car contacted me telling me about the celica. 86 celica gts, I was instantly interested because ive always been a fan on the 98 gt4 and wouldnt mind a celica. I drove 2 hours to pick up the car and what did he have in his drive way? a 98 gt4. I got the car for 500 with blown motor. I put a 5sfe block on with the 3s head, but that got boring. After 4 years of the 3 s block sitting i finally got enough money to start my build. here is a short list of what ive done with my car: Ported head, bored .50, crank, hks exaust, and suspension. So did you know you wanted a celica or did you come across it by chance?
.50 over bore?!! holy shit. no boost for you i got mine because my muscle car costs too much when i was in college
my 1st one (87 gt) i got because i was causally looking for a car, and someone posted it on the Work classifieds for $400. i checked it out and fell in love. For the next year i read everything i could on the 4g celica. After a cruddy accident the car was a write off, but i couldn't let all my reserch adn love for the 4g celica go to waste, so i replaced it with an 87 GTS. a year after that i found an 88 alltrac on craigslist for $1200 I just got the alltrac running, and couldn't be happier with it
I was forced into it, dad paid $1000 for my '87 GTS and i've had it for 3 years now. There are cars I'd rather have, but I'm reasonably satisfied for now.
^ LOL carson! Came across the vert by chance - always wanted a cleeeen one to make into a sleeeeper
Ya this one has far too much rust be worth modding at this point. Would be fun to find a cleanish one and some how get a 350 in there . or a 88 or 89 camaro and put in an LS7
Saw my second ST162 in a dealer in 2000. It was in mint condition and up for £3,200. The dealer was very tight , wouldn"t give any discount. He knew how badly I wanted it and only gave me £600 in part exchange for my 86/ st162. I am its" second owner till this day.
the celica fairies donated me mine, it wouldnt fit under my pillow (i tried here..) so i had to pick it up

I was looking for a sports car.....my interest were a prelude or a celica or something (i think the 7th gen was fairly new and I had spotted one and liked it)....I didn't even know 4th gen celicas existed....though I was a toyota guy all along. I stopped at the dealership just to see if they had any used and he happened to have an 89 gts with a blown engine he said he'd give me for a grand (the guy had traded it in for a 7th gen), I didn't think too much of it seeing as I wasn't interested in doing the work but my dad talked me into at least going out to the lot and looking at it. Well I fell in love, it had mag wheels and a hot red paint job and an alarm (I was young and in love, the only other cars I had owned before then were beater tercels...this car was niiiiice.) I got a loan from my grampa and bought it and proudly towed it home and then started looking for an engine...after many unsuccessful calls to the wreckers I found a wrecker across the country that brings jdm engines in and I picked one up for a good price and got a friend of my dad's to put it in. Altogether about $1800. That was about 7 years ago, today I'm selling it for $1800, I got a lot of use out of it and I definitely will miss it but its time to move on to bigger and better things. Like my 94 gt4, chaching
saw mine on the side of the road and dicided to ask was it for sale... it was!! always wanted one!! drool5
Found my first in autotrader when I blew my sierra up. Fell in love with it. When that was written off it took me a while to get another but the last 2 are from EBAy £115 each hehe
Neighbor was about to have the ex's car towed from his garage to the wreckers. He was using it as a shelving unit for tools while he worked on his truck. Rolled it out and before the tow truck was arranged, called the guy's ex and took it off her hands for $300 CAN. New timing belt, tuneup and thorough cleaning, Black Shelf was on the road again. I fucking love this car, I'll drive it til it dies. Then fix it
1st Red Alltrac one was given to me. Was definitely a junk heap but not beyond all help(later found out this to be false) 2nd White Alltrac was purchased for $700 to fix the red one. Sold all the parts and scraped the car. 3rd Blue Alltrac was a gift from Mafix for my birthday(what a hell of a friend there.) Currently undergoing a few changes to be street able and look as good as it did when they first came out.
89GTS: Saw it downtown and put a note on the window; guy called back and said he was gonna trade it in on a Subaru. Struck a deal and it was mine. 88All-Trac: Newspaper ad. Guy got so many calls for it he jacked up the price by $600. Asshole. I almost walked. Glad I didn't - it was still a fair deal and the car has been great. (Would've been a great deal if I got it at original asking price though.) 86GTS: Newspaper ad. Another buyer looked at it before me but insulted owner by low balling too much. Seller ended up giving me $200 bucks off b/c I didn't low ball, LOL.
My baby appeared at the bottom of my road with a badly scribbled for sale note on it.Always liked the 162 shape and every time i drove past id stop and have a look round it, it was pretty sorry for itself the paint had gone pink and flat but underneath looked good.I knew id buy it.Now she's mine!Woohahahahah. etc auto
Dad kinda "gave" it to me. Always liked the car, wished Toyota made them RWD, so instead.. I'll get a Supra next. driving My dad had a pre-facelift GTS coupe that he rebuilt the motor in and less than a month later smashed the rear quarter into a light pole. He was working at a shop at the time, and a costumer came in with an 88 GTS hatch with a motor his college-aged daughter blew. My dad got the hatch for a fair price, took the motor out of the coupe and sent the shell to the junker. (After I pulled some electronics out, of course.)
