Hey everyone I got a Toyota Celica 1988 Alltrac turbo and I'm trying to put the gear shifter back in, but I'm having some troubles getting it all back together

The reason I removed it was to replace the shifter bushing, now I'm having some troubles getting it back together

its more or less the top shift cable I'm having trouble with, the bottom one is in snug no problems.

the top cable that connects on the side of the shifter is the one that I'm having trouble with. In the first photo theres like a bracket that connects the side of the shifter to the cable however when I move it in to 5th or reverse it doesn't go. It just stays in 4th and doesn't go passed it when there are bolts installed in the far 2 holes in the on the housing.

I can shift in to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, but when I try to shift over the whole bracket and cable wants to come up when I shift over to 5th or reverse. And when its bolted to the housing of the shifter it just won't move at all

I'm lost and have no idea what to do!

If anyone has any ideas please let me know I hope this made sense

    here are some photos
